Yeah they are cheap but u get what u pay for. I have one of their "Biker Jackets" & for the money it is good $200 vs a $600 dollar HD jacket, as far as I can see they are not 3 imes as good. The gloves are not water proof but I would like to know what gloves are. The cheap boots I bought off them are cheap & are not water proof. On my trip to Perth a few months ago I had two days of rain & the cheap $80 or 90 rain suit (read black plastic jacket & pull on pants) kept me dry for the two full days of rain that I had.
I am looking for a new pair of good boots & a pair of over gloves for the rain, might even buy a pair of black rubber glove to go over my Bikers Gear ones. Up on the ski resorts the ski instructors wear washing up gloves to keeep their hands dry as the cannot get gloves that keep the water out - too much stitching & stuff around the fingers.
Lesson like u need one!! Don,t buy cheap & expect gold.
I have a pair of Rjays gloves with the thinsulate in them and they are pretty well water proof. I have to ride to work all the time in the rain and they work well keep my hands warm and dry.
I also have Rjays jacket and pants that work very well as long as you get the slightly more expensive ones. The jacket was about $60 i think and the pants about $70 from MCA. I also have the over boot covers for when it get real heavy.
All in all they do a great job of keeping me dry. It does come down to "ya get what ya pay for" i used to get the $19 pants and $20 jacket and they where crap.
mate
before you slander me, maybe come down to the island and have a chat about your gear, if you have any problems... dont assume I ride 3 times a year??? I am member of VVMC gipps chapter and ride in rain hail or shine and clock up many miles each week, we have been in business for 8 years and I ride, not a 3 time a year sunnyboy. Maybe shop around and check out where 90% of motorcycle apparel originates from and you will see pakistan is the leader in leather products.
Maybe get yourself some wet weather gear with silicone sealed seams to put over when is heavy raining as you state, keep them rolled up on your bars.
.
G"day Grumpz.
thanks for backing us up mate,
Theres is always one around?????
Cheers
Bikers gear is good value for money and the owner is a genuine long distance Harley rider and a good guy. Re gloves; I've spent 100s of $ buying gloves starting with cheapskate $60 ones and working up to my latest investment of $200 for a pair so far untested. Cheers , pete.
I bought an orange and black Harley style jacket from them in March, mainly because of price, but am wrapped with it. $800 for the genuine HD product was a bit much when I usually wear a vest anyway.
Their store is great and I love browsing through there twice a year when I'm down for the bikes.
Swagman
Get a pair of over gloves from Andy Strapitzs, a genuine Driazabone big enough to go over your leathers, a pair of RJs water proof trousers for over your jeans and a pair of water proof Rossi boots and you will never be wet. I wear this combo all the time in light to HEAVY rain and have never been wet!!! Over gloves also geep your hands from freezing on those frosty mornings as well.
Just my $0.02 worth.
g'day got a full wet weather suit on ebay $72 and $12 postage 100% water proof and rode in snow last weekend in orange -6.7 and was warm a very good buy, gloves mine are called four seasons good in wet weather not real good in the cold hope that helps
If you're looking for Aussie made wet weather gear there's a mob here in Brisbane called 'The Australian Coat Company'; their gear is 'Driza Bone' style.
First saw it in the old 'Ned Kelly's' at Canungra - the biker friendly Retailer well known to many on the forum (where's he gorn?).
Anyhoos, I have the jacket & over pants & the U beaut sheepskin vest - all good quality stuff at a fair price and hand made in their small factory just off Moss St in Springwood.
That's where I went to order & collect it so I saw the stuff being made here in OZ!
If you're interested scroll through for the bike stuff on their site at www.theaussiecoat.com.au
My bike is American but I try reeal hard to support OZ industry in everything else...
