Now I understand when a friend of mine said "Alfie when you get your Harley you will know what it's all about and you will never regret it" he sure as hell was right. What a ride the delux is :-) smooth power power and some!!! Shame it's going to be shitty weather this weekend all I want to do is get out on the open road :-)

Have a few questions...1. When you start it is it typical to have a loudish knock (only once) from the cam?

                                              2. When it started it blew a little blackish smoke is that cos its been sitting there and not being turned over? it had 2k's on the clock

                                              3. Going thru the gears is it typical to be clunky?

                                              4. I was told again to ride it normal for breaking it in and not to do what I have read here with open throttle thru 2nd 3rd 4th then shut off or on occasion just open it up then off and not to ride it over 80klms an hr for the first few hundred k's so I'm really confused!!!!

Im sitting here at work bike is down stairs rode it like 7ks  to work in the city and its like having a little tease then having to wait another 8hrs b4  get to ride it home!!! I can still smell the new oil new bike smell after being off it for now nearly one hr :-)

Sorry guys I'm rambling a bit here but I'm sure most of you know what I'm feeling now.

One very happy camper here and looking forward to riding with you guys and learning more about these b'full awesome machines that we all ride.

Just wanted to share my excitment and how proud I feel to own my own Harley.

    Cheers Alfie

Well done Alfie, I remember riding my first Harley home in 82. I had never ridden one before (had jappas since 13 yrs old).
I was shit scared I'd do something stupid in front of my mates. Didn't . Went to Dubbo that weekend for the Bonneville rally (some stories
to tell from there.) Still riding Harleys and same grin I had then.
    It's all good.
    Cheers ,
    Cris.

Congrats mate. Now, point 4, warm it up then ride it like you stole it. DONT go pottering around into the city and sitting in traffic cruising along.

Cheer's Hound dog :-))))) 2 hrs and I finish work and back in the saddle :-))))))....thinking back to when i ran in the yammie I guess it's all the same not different to any other bike. The problem is I live In the burbs and work in the city but I dont work peak hour's so won't be that bad with traffic. Heading up the M5 freeway after work tonight to a mates place so it will get a good run through the gears like some have mentioned. Then same 2moro down to Wollongong and back.
