Does anyone other than me with a softail have a problem getting consistant oil level readings on the dipstick for the transmission??? You are meant to keep the bike level and after wiping the dipstick ,rest it (not screw) on the top thread and read the level. Trouble is,I get a different reading every time because you have always got the dipstick on an angle in line with the thread. I know this is probably not crucial, but its annoying. I was reading somewhere that it's ok to just pour a Quart in and leave it at that ?? My manual say's 591 to 710ml or 20 to 24 oz . How much do you guys put in and how do you go when trying to check it ?? I just put the 710ml in and had a beer, everytime I go to check it it is different.

Scotty,I rang a couple of dealers, and they both said not to put more than the specified amount (710ml) in the tranny because it can build too much pressure.

You are right Nobody, it does say approximately  in the manual, but it goes on to say between 590ml & 710ml so I am assuming approximately means somewhere between these two numbers?? Thanks Roadtrain, good info. does anyone have the same trouble reading the bloody dipstick ? LOL
