Well today i received a letter asking me to front up to the RTA compliance station coz me pipes were too loud.

Yep some ones dobbed me in.

any one else had this happen?

of course thank god for stock i say.

Im thinking someone in my building has an issue.

cant imagine someone on the street has gone to the trouble of taking down my license and phoning the cops.

Im not too sure could be some of my neighbors but im pretty respectful, i coast into the garage most evenings after killing the engine.
I dunno live in the ACT where lots of people like to complain about shit.
    what are you gonna do.
Im just gonna put stocks on again and go get the thing passed and then go right out and put V and H on again.
might make a concession and put in quiet baffles just to try and keep the peace.

I thought in Vic (don't know about the ACT) you needed two people to dob you in. Makes you want to cover your plate when leaving or coming home don't it ....

Maybe i did!! i ride past Kevies house often, make sure im on the gas when i do.
Who knows who i pissed of most likely neighbours or someone in the street its Canberra so it wouldnt surprise me if some dude has written me plate down when im out for a ride and written a letter to the RTA.
Who the fuck knows the mailing address of the RTA and would bother writing to them.
And im sure this individual has never been to a loud party, has never made loud noises having sex with the window, open has never had a crying baby, has never turned the stereo up too loud.
Alwasy indicates when driving never pulls out without looking...
Dresses in bubble wrap and takes the bus.

    was fun.
now i have to take the stocks off and stick the loud pipes on again.
but I got my tts mastertune today so the fun really begins now.

It could have been the police that have taken down your number and put you in....easier than going through the stop and have to argue....

    OK so update
i go to the rta and they fail to pass the motorcycle completely stock
and tell me i need a reflector on the back.
seems they have never seen an iron before.
the guy was nice about it and said he liked the bike.
so now i have to call technical standards.
but i have downloaded ADR 39a
and have read it cover to cover and i am satisfied they have performed the test incorrectly and at best done a faulty job.
The bike is compliant with adr rules to be allowed to be imported so i am gonna kick up such a stink.
I have already contacted the ministry of tranpsport and will take it to the minister if i have to.
    they will not win.
lucky i didnt try it with the Vance and Hines hahahahahaha
but basically if my bike is too loud then everyother machine on the road is illegal.
    fuckers!!!!!!

    +2, makes sense to me.

    Let them sort it out.

Dealer is fitting 2:1 V&H on my Muscle, so they are selling me a defective bike?

I've been through the same experience in the past, with Screamin Eagles 11. Put stock pipes back on to pass the test. I was only thinking the other day.....yes it happens at times.
Well I was in a busy part of the city, can't remember where exactly. But as I stood there I was noticing the noises around the street. There was Road Trains, starting and stopping, air brakes screaming, loose hurdles on the trailers banging and clanging. There were other vehicles as well, other trucks screeching to a halt, and driving off in a hail of noise. Then then there were buses trundling past. The odd dirt bike with loud pipes. Cars with loud exhausts. The roaring 747 plane roaring overhead, and I thought to myself. If a Harley with loud pipes rode past, it wouldn't be any different from the other masses of noise. Suddenly I felt........we are being victimised.

Well I went back today and spoke to the head of the testing guys and said mate what the F...K its stock.
he retested it and went its cool we will let it pass he had to i guess didnt want to look like a tool.
Basically looking at the stationary testing procedure document it would look like the first guys didnt test it properly.
2500 HD is the standard they were trying to get it to 3 grand.
So i will put the v+h back on keep the paper in me pocket and produce it for plod if i have to might even get the engraving on the pipes with the ADR number for my bike hehehe
I found the place to buy number plate frames that white out too hahaha
I have a crown prosecuter looking into it as the way they test an in service vehicle is at odds with the way they test for ADR so their maybe a loop hole we can all exploit.
BUt look the upside is i got to clean that bit of my header heat shields that the V+H slip on heat shields cover... it was very dirty.
I guess as twin cam said its going to happen every now and then so keep your stockers boys :)
I will have a chat with the dealer as well and try and see what else can be done.
too many grandmas in canberra i guess happy to listen all day to the stupid yappy dog but a bike rides by and off they go to the RTA website to complain haha
or could be a sneaky copper too who the hell knows.
cheers for all the feedback too guys much appreciated.
think ill go watch HELL RIDE again that'll make me feel better haha

    Hey Nightrider its Ironman here,

sucks about the RTA. It is Canberra, full of public
servants. All they do is complain.
When I bought my Iron it had a rear reflector, connected to the
number plate bracket, also rear side ones too.
They came staright off and still have them just in case. You can borrow it
    if want, no probs.

I've read a slippery slope here. Getting the dealerships between you and the cops may not be smart. If this thinking catches on I can see the dealerships becoming the cops best friend.

One dealership has already had a talking to by the thick blue line. Following this enlightenment the dealership will not fit aftermarket pipes or mufflers at sale. ...lest a marked vehicle sit off the dealership and pullover every harley coming in or leaving.

The dealers are exposed to pressure from authorities...best for us all to do our own work.
