I can't believe a bike has consumed me so much as this new sportster. $500 has secured me one for delivery in November/December. I just seem to keep checkin' pictures of it......what the hell is wrong with me??

I don't care that it only has a 160km range......I don't care that no-one is gonna get on the back of it with me.....I don't care that the seat is a rock hard, uncomfotable perch.......I don't care that the rear suspension will have my spine jarring at every ripple in the ribbons of tarmac that I will be charging along.....I just want this sportster!

If I was going that way I'd still buy a Nightster, at least for looks alone.

160 kays? I wish. My Iron 883 with the larger tank shows the fuel light at 140 kays with city riding....

Saw Colin at Frasers today and he said that Harley Aus hasn't yet 100% confirmed we'll even get the 48. He's pretty sure it will happen but says they haven't 100% confirmed it...

yeah and somthing else.......I just looked at the Canadian spec...because the gov didn't like the back end they have had to put the licence plate up high behind the seat and a BIG red rear light cluster on an extended rear fender. Totally spoiled the whole bobber look at the back....hope they don't make that change here. Harley City in Melbourne have taken my dosh too so they are comin'....

I plugged in this to get an orange Canadian film on you tube  "harley davidson 48 2010"

Thanks for that TC.... I really like the look of the rear of the bike (US) so a side plate is an interesting option...I'll let you know when the wait is over. Only another 4 bloody months to go

Well done MR F! the new 48's are cool bikes. I also cant wait for you to get the bike so you can post pics and let us know how the bike is! haha

When i put a deposit on my IRON the bloke just informed me that they were expecting this new bike  and asked if i wanted to change my mind and get the 48! but he told me id get the bike in october November and i put a deposit at the start of FEB! Also it was just above my budget for a bike though hence why i decided to stick to the Iron.

I love the low profile look of this bike with the single seat and slammed speedo.  I wanna get that slammed Speedo for my Iron. Not spare parts out yet for the 48.

Not sure why they mated a 1200cc with a peanut tank. But who cares it looks good.

    160km range??

Would probably be a bit less than that I'd guess...

I can only think that my paltry 140kays before refills is due to being 6 ft tall and 80kg versus other riders who are shorter and lighter than me....

Well, had an email from Harley City in Melbourne to tell me that a Silver one is in line for August production and it will be mine in late October......do you think they could fit the side mounted licence plate for me before pick up?  Because it is illegal I'm not sure if they will fit it for me?

That is a very impressive list, I was looking at the brown leather solo sprung seat & kit, plus the Willi G Skull stuff. I like the buckshot exhaust shield too...I reckon I'll keep your list....is the first service after 1000Kms?   I've never owned a new bike and so I thought running in would be about that.    Got a price of $17,990 from Harley City (and Peter Stevens "Harley Heaven " is the same)

Thanks for that info, I will wait until I get it and then fiddle with the side mount at some point.  I live on Phillip Island and I know 2 of the local cops really well, they have let me off speed related stops before, so maybe I'll get away with it locally.....

Mr F did they quote you a price yet ? and will they be in aus at the end of the year?

Hi pastrypete.... yeah Peter Stevens and Harley City both said $17,990. Demonstrators are here in August, orders can be placed now with delivery not until October/ November time.

I'm sure that there will be one at Motogp in October on the stand, plus all the literacture etc. It will be a 2011 model for Oz, but it was released in the rest of the world back in January this year.

Don't want a bigger tank....it is my hot rod commuter!! 100kms a day no probs....not really a touring machine.

Hey Micky...... I've been poking around youtube watching people bore through the exhaust... and add V&H for a full sound..... and air cleaners..... and bits and riding them etc etc... I've even been reading some blogs and replies to motorcycle journo's and the design seems to have really polarised people. Journo's really like the bike..... (unusually)
