Hi Guys,
It has finally arrived! Let me start be saying, buying this bike has been the best decision of my life! hahaha. It looks even better in real life! Cant believe you can pick up a bike of this quality for the ride away price! The missus has asked, sorry 'demanded' that i get a badlander seat soon so i can pillion her! To think i was going to buy a honda Sport bike for 16K is beyond me now.
Picked it up on saturday and spent the whole day riding and admiring the bike. It is as everyone says so fun to ride. My face is frozen from an arvo ride saturday, I think i need a mask to go with my open face helmet.
Ive only flipped the mirrors and will be changing the handle bars next weekend.
Few experiences with the bike some are really petty:
- Power is substantial for myself, it has enough torque to power in and out of traffic. I pulled away a few times in 2nd and 3th...too easy! Shouldnt really as it is brand new.
- Mid controls are great. I'm 5'8 and they feel comfortable. May consider forwards later.
- It is a sportster so i will have to get use to the excess vibebration.
- i find the kick stand abit hard to kick out coz the mid controls get in the way.
- The aussie spec is really high at the rear. Will changing the rear suspension next week also to 11 inchers.
- Ive slammed my shins on the mids a few times at the lights..haha.
- Didnt realise how HOT the motor got in traffic. It was great at night though as i needed the warmth.
I will have more photos up soon when i have made more changes on the bike.
Yeh thanks nightrider.
i ve got the handlebar, although the stock bars feel great and go with the mid controls.
I was trying to get a hold of a pair of rear sus from the custom low 883. Do you think M and M cycles would hold these? Had a look and cant seem to find anything there or anywhere.
Progressive shocks are abit dear so if i couldnt escape that route i will.
The rough ride does not bother me much...
Have you replaced the stock rear sus one's on your Iron?
Man, look at those reflectors.
Bano will have a hard on
They took away the rear reflectors but not the front ones!
haha
Nice ride sir883..... I read somewere of a trick to get rid of the orange reflectors by sliding fishing line down behind them. Even gets rid of all the glue with no scratching, apparently. Try it and let me know if it works....then I'll try it!!
@nightrider; Yeh i guess it will be worth it..but dont want go over board and end up spending to much on a value for money bike. Maybe down the road.
Guys, i have removed the reflectors. Once i got the edge lifted i just ripped it off. Came straight off.
Thanks TC...I just rode it again tonight! haha
@3737pisces
Hey mate, Lets worry about that when it problem haha.
Just a thought...
Why do they have a '6th' gear indicator on the speedo when its only 5 speed?
ahhaha..I am definitely getting forward controls and changing the rear sus.
I have been just outbid on like 5 pairs of stock rear sus from a 2008 883 low on U.S ebay. Postage is like 80 - 100bucks!
I feel like just cutting the the stock ones. How do those lowering kits work?
Yeh its working fine for me too i just want the slammed look at the rear. I am also thinking of a 3" tank lift. All these mods are so cheap.
Here's a shot of the 1-3 inch blocks on my Iron. I got these from eBay Aus for $95.00. They're well built and come with everything you need apart from a bike jack. I added these at 3-inches lower PLUS 12-inch length Road King shocks for a total of 4.5-inches of lowering. Mine is pretty low....
