Hi all
just tried to start the bike this morning - she no go. No spark on either cylinder. Here's where I;m at after checking terminals/connections etc The only work done recently was to replace the starter motor clutch. The only issues I recall was the bike died for about 20 seconds a couple of months ago (once only) with engine at high reves as I overtook a truck. At the time I put it down to a bit of gunk in the fuel but now I'm wondering.
Battery good and motor turns over fine
Security/blinker module appears to work ok. (Blinkers, arm/disarm, indicator in speedo on off.
Turn ignition on and engine check indicator goes off in about 4 secs
Engine kill button working ok (engine won;t turn over in the off position)
Headlight bright, neutral light on
Could you help me with the following questions
If the engine management indicator in the speedo goes out approx 4 secs after the ignition is turned on, does that indicate that the self check of all the engine sensors is complete or just a self check of the ignition module?
Is there a 'known fault' or likely suspect with this model?
Will the local HD dealer diagnostic tool usually identify faulty sensors?
I expect there are only likely to be a couple of sensors that would actually prevent the engine from running. (crank position, lean angle and I believe thei is an 'enable' from the security module etc) Are there tests and checks I can do. (Ive got a good digital multimeter etc)
Will I be able to go for a ride at 8.00am tomorrow?
