A few sayings come to mind. "It's a way of life" and "If I had to explain you wouldn't understand". It's weird when someones knocking a Harley and the bike their riding has been copied to look like a Harley.
Funny story....... my best mate (and Ulysees member) has been biking for decades and has taught me a fair bit too. I've had to cop the light-hearted jibes about Harleys and Harley riders for years. He has been dreaming about a Triumph Rocket 3 for a long time and finally he recently bought one. It's not my personal style but I admire the bike for being a Rocket. It is its own bike, so to speak, and its not trying to be a Harley in any way at all. That gives it some serious cred along with lots of desirable qualities that make it a great bike.
I called him last week on a Sunday morning and he was broken down on the side of the road 200km out of town. The bike had to be carted home on a trailer and it had less than 1,000km on the clock. HA!!!!! No more HD jibes about unreliability!!!! )))))))))))))))))))))))))
My brother in laws Ducati 848 left him stranded on the side of the road with less than 1000k's on it!!! It's now three years old with about 3000k's on it.....I would rather my bike any day. I can enjoy the sights and smells of the world around me at my own pace. I don't need to go 200 km/h down Conrod straight to enjoy myself. Each to his own....
Well I ride a Ducati every day to work. Has never let me down, so don't put them all in the same basket.
On the road, other sportbike and tourer riders all give the nod as they pass and it's generally a positive experience. Pull up somewhere, people come and ask about the bike, usually drawn there by the sound of it pulling up somewhere...........Dukes like HD's have a distinctive exhaust note and have street cred, so it's all good.
I jump on the Fatboy and it all changes. None or very very few of the above riders will even give a passing nod. The stupid thing is that most of the HD's I pass are also too cool for school to acknowledge another HD. What gives?? Different story if it's parked somewhere, usually get stopped by someone wanting to talk about the bike etc but on the road, different story?? Just makes me laugh.
Either way, I love both my bikes, for different reasons.
Cheers n beers
Ducatis are cool, the point I was trying to make is all machinery breaks down, some sooner than others. You say you love your bikes for different reasons, I say good onya and enjoy the ride,
Harley's and Ducati's..... best of both worlds
speaking of Harley Hater's..... theres a few on here....
Google: American Angst -----------> "Flag slathered retards......"
Black Echo does not like HD riders because they believe in the lifestyle that Harley-Davidson markets so well.
Black Echo does not like HD riders because they believe in the lifestyle that Harley-Davidson markets so well......sorry for the double post!
He sounds like a greenie Another good fuck wasted.
Hi All,
Thinking vey hard of switching to a Fat Bob, I had a ride on one at a trade day and enjoyed it. I ride a VN900 Classic, which I have had no trouble at all . The thing I cant understand is the " them and us " attitude with a lot of riders. I will nod or wave at any rider. We are all out enjoying the same thing. Takes all sorts.
Magpie
Gay? Fuck mate, obviously an expression ya never heard before. In other words his parents done all the work creating him from a good root and he turned out to be a fuckwit. HE WAS A WASTE OF A GOOD FUCK... Japanese bikes were invented to keep fuckwits off Harleys to.Disposable things like my snipper wipper,me mower etc etc . I also hate greenies, another bunch of educated fuckwits filling our heads with bullshit . "SHOOT GREENS" Rah Rah Rah ............................................................ I feel better now
