i want to put a 3deg rake on a 06 dyna glide, what i want to know is what is the differance between 49mm and the 41mm forks (apart from the size).
I work quite a bit with both forks. The 41.6 mm (41) is very heavy and thick. The 49 mm is made of much thinner wall material. The cross section of the larger 49 mm makes up in strength. Naturally the triple trees, sliders, and brake location are all different. The mid glide is made to work with a 5.010" hub and the narrow glide hub is thinner. I measured the narrow glide 2005 Dyna and did not write it down. I need to measure it again. The Wide Glide found on the Baggers use a 6.32" hub. In all cases the triple tree center of fork tubes must match the intended hub unless you use hub spacers.
i have a 06 fxdci and would like to put some rake on it, i can buy 49mm triple tree with 3deg rake that will go with the 49mm fork's or buy a whole front end for the same price. i know i will have to buy bit's to make everything fit so do i stay with the 49's or go with the 41's.
