They (amsoil) buy the base product from Exxon,Shell or whoever and then blend their own crap into it. The reason they will not tell you to use it on a new bike is because as soon as you do not use the oil prescribed by the manufacturer, your warranty is fucked. I myself am a mobil distributor and we tell all owners of new cars or bikes or trucks that we can only supply to them what is stated on their new vehicle warrenty, otherwise we become liable for anything and i mean anything happening to their vehicle. I would be asking for blochures about thier oil before buying it as like us he will be an onseller and will do his best to try and sell you a product because that is his buisness.
haha rod, in all seriousness though are you really having trouble with oils? where are you at with oils. considering how expensive amsoil is Mobil v twin is your best bet though it comes down to application and the year of your ride, condition of running parts etc
just ask away and there are plenty of is that will help you out, point you in the right direction
spot on there man, oil is oil, as long as its clean, 99%of the companies buy it of the one oil company and add there shit to make it sound good, so us poor suckers think were buyin you beaut oil for our bikes, but in reality we would be better off buyin car oil, does the same job as all the expensive (so called motorcycle oil). just change regually and save yourself heaps. cheers BRUSH.
And Mobil 1 V-twin oil is a lot easier to find in country Oz towns than it is to find amsoil. For fuck's sake. And what the fuck is it with the capitol letters? Fuck this,I'm going to France anyway!!! I got a french letter with cum in it so I'm going
As I keep saying, I'll keep using what is the easiest to find when I'm out on the road,it's a case of convenience. Some of the places here in the bush don't even use credit card, rah rah rah. Keep ya hat on Jim, nothin personal here, plus we don't have a queen,we fucked her off years ago. Ha ha ha .... anyway, sounds like you know your stuff about oil ,but where am I supposed to get Amsoil for instance from, say way out in the Oz bush/countryside? "Keep ya hat on mate"
That link is fucked!!!!!!
Hey WL, Happy New Year, I've owned a dozen 45 WL over 45 years. I'm on vacation, didn't bring my OZ AMSOIL Dealer list. The 75W-140 is the same as straight 60W, good for the WL, BUT, NOT good for Twin Cam 6 speed, 75W-140 is TOO thick, for the made in CHINA gears. The 5 & 6 speed, BIG TWIN tranny's work very well with 75W-90. The 75W -110 IS better for early 6 speeds, with the 5th gear whine. PS, NEVER USE MOTOR OIL IN BIG TWIN, 4,5, or 6 SPEED TRANNY'S. ALL Sportsters can use 20W-50, motor oil in combo primary & trans. BEWARE, BE SMART, BE SAFE, Boston Jim.
Hey 45WL, 75W-90 is very good, 75W-110 is Better. 2006 Dyna's had the 1st 6 speed, last 88" motor. 2007, all models got 6 speed & 96" motor. My best friend bought a new 2006 Dyna, with 1st 6 speed, he does not have the 5th gear whine, he also, has been using AMSOIL 75W-110 SV GEAR OIL, from day one. I thought the 5th gear whine problem, had been fixed, before your bike was built. Your bike is 103 ", yes/no ? You & all your Twin Cam riding friends, should check out, WWW.J&PCYCLES.COM, website, there is 3 blogs, with 1000 comments, & 750 blown motors, on the Twin Cam chain tensioner problem, very interesting, a must read. Wishing you the best, Boston Jim, www.fatzusa.com
thanks Boston Jim. 2011 Dyna 96ci
Cheers
Good day all.
Without reading through 12 pages to check. Can anyone tell me wher in Perth Mobil 1 V twin is stocked.
I have been using Red Line products but apparently they have pulled out of WA.
So move onto the Mobil 1 oil or something similar.
Cheers.
Hey cview, Got Snow, just wondering. I got beeped this morning from this thread. There was a total of 6 posts in 2014, all in January. The next post came in on January 2015, WTF ! And now you & another mate in July, seems rather strange ?
I think you brought up a very good question? The same guys using crap Dino oil, are using cheap paper media filters. Most of the racers & Iron Butt Riders are using very good synthetics. You know, Synthetic oils are alot like Raial tires, 40 years ago, there were only a couple of manufacturers. Today there are Dozens & Dozens of Synthetics & Radial Tire Company's. But, there are only 2/3 at the top of the heap ! Michelin, Pirelli, Metzeler, tires ! AMSOIL, Mobil, ?, oil !
Anyway, back to your filter question. The new stainless steel, cleanable, filters are nice, they filter & flow well, & last forever, but are not cheap. The disposable filters are conveinent, again, like the tires & oil, there are many, most are crap ! I'd be using AMSOIL or Mobil or S&S M/C oil filters, stay away from car filters, the By-Pass valves PSI, is set way to high for a Harley. I'd also stay away from K&N, TOO restrictive & made in Thailand. I don't like any of the Generic M/C filters; Drag Specialties, V-Twin, etc., etc.
And, if your riding a Twin Cam, you have the cam chain tensioners to worry about. Instead of pulling cam cover to check shoe thickness, cut open your dirty oil filter at every oil change. Go thru the pleats, looking for white or orange plastic shoe material, this will get in your oil pump, & you'll be walking to the Bank ! Good Luck, Boston Jim
Hey Baloffski, Thanks for the comments ! I had a friend, Diamond Jack, (Navy Vet) we buried him last Dec..Anyway, if anybody's looking for AMSOIL, there are 6 Distributors in OZ. Good Luck, Boston Jim, WWW.FATZUSA.COM
