Thanks Noodle......never did try it as I thought it bay effect seals.....will stick to oil change and filter every 5,0000 k'm's.....never blown a motor up but did manage to snap a main gear shaft in a Ducatic half hour before dark in the middle of nowhere....
oil flushing, have a look here...

That's a good thing, the rogue chopper oil scavenger that Critcho posted. Mine arrived from USA last week and did an oil and filter change yesterday. It got almost another litre of dirty oil out.
Just like a good fart - better out than in.
Well made, good instructions, easy to use. Less than $100.
Looking at changing oils over and found this.
"d cheaper) choice of the two. Normal oil change: I use the best synthetic oil I can lay my hands on and dump it every 4000kms (2500 miles) religiously. After many, many hours scouring the net for info I believe the best synthetic oil for your Harley is either Amsoil or Mobil 1. The only laboratory measured difference between Mobil 1 V-Twin blend and the cheaper Mobil 1 car oil is that the car oil has a slightly higher molybdenum content than the bike oil and the bike oil has a higher price tag. There are no wet clutches inside a Harley motor, so if anything the higher molybdenum content in the Mobil 1 car oil is going to be the better (and cheaper) choice of the two"

What do ya reckon? Makes sense if true.
GTEEZ
FOR BERMS, I JUST BECAME A MEMBER THE 1ST WEEK IN FEB. I'VE BEEN SURFING OVER THIS FORUM, AND CAME ACROSS YOUR STATEMENT THAT YOUR USING MOBIL 1 CAR OIL IN YOUR HARLEY, THAT'S NOT GOOD, THAT'S NOT GOOD AT ALL. ALL OILS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL. CAR OIL IS DESIGNED FOR WATER COOLED MOTORS, MOTORCYCLE OIL IS FOR AIR-COOLED MOTORS, BUT, YOU PROBABLY KNOW THAT BY NOW,[SINCE YOUR POST WAS SEPT.2010] THERE ARE DIFFERENT ADDITIVES FOR CARS,BIKES,TRANNY'S ETC. I'VE BEEN A AMSOIL DEALER FOR 8 YEARS, THERE'S NOTHING BETTER, IF YOU FIND YOURSELF DOWN A QT, ALONG WAY FROM HOME, THE BEST THING IS 20W-50 DIESEL OIL& FOR SHOVELHEADS & BACK, STRAIGHT 50. CHECK-OUT THE AMSOIL 32 OIL STUDY AT WWW.FATZUSA.COM FOR YOURSELF. P.S. DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN'T USE TODAYS OIL IN 1974 & BACK, FLAT TAPPET MUSCLE CARS, YOU NEED OIL WITH LOTS OF ZINC, AMSOIL HAS THAT, TOO. BE SAFE, BOSTON JIM
HEY GTEEZ, YOUR RIGHT ABOUT AMSOIL BEING THE BEST, IF YOU USE AMSOIL OIL FILTER, YOU CAN GO 10,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. AND YOU ARE TECHNICALLY CORRECT ABOUT NO WET CLUTCHS IN MOTOR, BUT THERE IS A WET CLUTCH BETWEEN THE MOTOR AND TRANS, THAT BATHES IN THE PRIMARY CASE, ON EVERY HARLEY THAT HAS LEFT MILWAUKEE, SINCE 1984. HEY CHECK-OUT AMSOIL'S 32 OIL STUDY ON MY WEBSITE; WWW.FATZUSA.COM BE SAFE, BOSTON JIM
HEY LUCKYMICK, YOU ARE A SMART MAN, USING THE SCAVENGER,"TOTAL OIL CHANGE SYSTEM". I BET YOU WERE TOTALLY AMAZED AT ALL THE DIRTY OIL, HARLEY SAYS IS NOT LEFT IN THE MOTOR DURING AN OIL CHANGE. I AM AN AMSOIL DEALER, AND WE WERE THE FIRST TO CALL SCAVENGER ABOUT BEING DEALERS, NOW WE ARE HIS ONLY REP, I FIGURED I COULD TURN A 3QT OIL CHANGE INTO 4QTS, THAT'S 331/3 % INCREASE IN SALES. I HAD THE INVENTOR PHIL UP TO LACONIA BIKE RALLY, LAST JUNE, IN FACT HE CALLED HERE YESTERDAY, AND WE ORDERED A CASE OF EVO SCAVENGERS. WE ARE ALSO PARTNERING UP AT A FEW SHOWS THIS COMING YEAR. CHECK-OUT OUR WEBSITE; WWW.FATZUSA.COM , BE SAFE, BOSTON JIM
Im glad we all agree that Mobil 1 V-Twin is the best!
Dont use Mobil 1 Car oil its for cars and there is a difference between the 2. Dont flush yr engines at change either as what ever you use will contaminate the fresh oil you put in. Keep it simple and oil change at and between every service (ie 4000kms)
For ACT riders there is usually a healthy supply at the Mobil Depot in Fyshwick. call em on 1300 305 138
HEY CRUISESOLO, ARE YOU RELATED TO HANSOLO ? I FOR ONE, DIDN'T AGREE THAT MOBIL 1 IS THE BEST, IN FACT AMSOIL IS MUCH BETTER, IN BIKES, CARS, DIESEL TRUCKS, BOATS, ETC., THAT'S A FACT, MANY STUDY'S PROVE IT. AND LETS SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, ABOUT FLUSHING & SCAVENGERING. I'VE OWNED H-D'S SINCE 1967, WHEN I BOUGHT MY 1ST H-D TRIKE, A 1957 [H-D MADE THAT 45 C.I. MOTOR FROM 1929 - 1973] OWNED 1/2 DOZ. TRIKES, A 1950 PANHEAD WITH SU CARB OFF A JAGUAR, I WAS RIDING THE "BILLY BIKE", BEFORE EASY RIDER MOVIE. BACK THEN, ALL WE HAD WAS H-D DINOSAUR OIL, AND THE H-D MANUALS SUGGESTED, THAT AFTER A COUPLE OF SEASONS OF USE, TAKE OFF THE OIL TANK, AND FLUSH IT CLEAN WITH KEROSENE, LET DRY OUT, RINSE WITH OIL, AND REINSTALL. WE HAVE ALL SEEN CAR VALVE COVERS, LOADED WITH SLUDGE, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS, WHEN YOU USE CONVENTIONAL DINOSAUR OIL IN YOUR VEHICLES, THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH SYNTHETICS. NOW LETS MOVE ON TO THE "SCAVENGER", SCAVENGERING IS LIKE PURGING. HAVE YOU SEEN THE TV AD FOR AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS, IF YOU HAD A CAR WITH 10 QT. CAPACITY, AND YOU PULL THE DRAIN PLUG, YOU MIGHT GET 6 QTS. TO DRAIN OUT, 4 QTS. STAY IN THE TORQUE CONVERTER, THE INTERNAL LINES, THE COOLER, ETC. PURGING THE TRANS WILL GET ALL THE DIRTY TRANS OIL OUT. THAT'S WHAT THE ROGUE CHOPPER SCAVENGER TOOL DOES, IT PURGES ALL THE DIRTY OIL OUT, FOR A "TOTALLY COMPLETE OIL CHANGE". NO CROSS CONTAIMINATED OIL [ CONVERTING FROM CONVENTIONAL OIL TO SYNTHETIC], NOW YOU HAVE 4 OR 5 QTS. OF CLEAN FRESH OIL, THAT WILL DO IT'S JOB, MUCH BETTER & LONGER. ONE MORE THING ABOUT MOBIL, THEY ARE THE LARGEST CORP. IN THE WORLD, THEY CONTROL THE OIL FROM DRILLING TO BOTTLING, THEY ARE THE LARGEST PETROL SUPPLIER, THEY SELL ON 7 CONTINENTS, THAT'S WHY MOBIL SYN OIL, COMES FROM THE FACTORY IN CORVETTES,PORSCHES,VIPERS,ETC., BECAUSE THEY CONTROL THE WORLDS OIL, NOT BECAUSE THEY MAKE THE BEST OIL. ONE MORE THING, NEVER, NEVER REMOVE THE DRAIN PLUG UNDER H-D MOTORS, YOU'LL LOSE ALL YOUR OIL PRESSURE, NOT A GOOD THING. BE SAFE, BOSTON JIM WWW.FATZUSA.COM
Ease up there mate stop yelling. We all have an opinion as do you. Mobil, Amsoil,Castrol,Shell, Its all good.INDEPENDENT test prove Mobil 1 V twin the best for HD ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, take your link with you.
No problem getting Moibil 1 V Twin Oil, every fortnight I buy 2 bottles at a local Mobil garage in Fairy Meadow NSW he seems to stock most of the Mobil brands of Oil.
Use to go to a Penrith distributor and buy a 6pack of oil but its too much of a drive everytime, also the fuel to get there and back out weighs the savings you get buying it in bulk.
Heya boston jim, For a guy that comes from a country big on freedom of speach you seem pretty supresive with your own opinion...
Bet ya dont talk to strangers like that in the bar cause if u did here in OZ youd be sure for a smack in the mouth!... But then again that is the way us Australians do make alot of friends soooooo nice meeting you my new friend.
Thanks Rocky.
Burto.
Hey I was just wondering if anyone has tried this oil before??? www.redlineoil.com.au
Just bit the bullet and ordered 2 x 1US Gallons of Amsoil MCV after doing a fair bit of research!................(and NO! BOSTON JIM'S YELLING DIDN'T MAKE ME DO IT!!!)
Costs a small fortune!! (up there with Mobil 1 vtwin)..........but I can use it in all 3 holes and they give it a pretty good wrap in the States.
Figure I can run it a little longer between (engine) changes if I need to (Amsoil claims twice the factory interval!...but I'm thinking maybe 6000kms)
Not cheap!............but It may be good insurance, especially as my bike is ridden fairly hard.
HEY BURTO, YOUR A WISE MAN { SMART TOO } BUYING AMSOIL FOR YOUR FATBOB. I'D SUGGEST YOU USE AMSOIL 75W-110 SEVERE GEAR IN YOUR TRANS. HOW'S YOUR 5TH GEAR NOISE ?
