Yesterday i was barreling down the road on the Fat Bob at about $1.50 plus change when I hit a pot hole. The Bob then started veering all over the road and felt like the rear tyre wanted to take off from underneath me. at first thought I done the tyre but when I pulled up the tyre was still good . I started pokeing around the rear end but couldnt find anything obviously amiss so I idled back out on the road and slowly took of again only to have the arse end wriggle like fuck under me. so i parked up. Spent the next 4 hours sitting on the side of the road while me mate Ed did the 180km trip back to town and got a ute and trailer. My first thought is rear engine mounts, has any one else had this happen and can they confirm or dispell my theory before I pull the whole arse end out of my bike.

Yea mate, Not a good feeling eh!!!! ,i have ridden bikes for long distances with flat tires NO CHOICE,but this is in anthor league. Anyhow my streetbob did this & shore enough both mounts were shot at 5thou klms. I ended up puting mine in a jig & checking motor alignment top mount out by 8 to 10 mm,NOT Good, also check how your front engine mount sits against frame mine & my mates fatbob both needed shiming, you can find out the best way to do this by typing in excessive vibes a guy in the us has written a great post on it . Hope this helps cheers, wombat

my mounts went but could ride as true track kept front stable enough ,the back one is crucial for rear end stability ,its the weak point on dynas mate of ours built monoshock dyns with motor rigid on frame he has no handling problems at all ,the tolerances on the 3 point s arent trued from factory iam sure ...
