    Hi Fellas

Can anyone confirm if the Australian 2010 FLHR models have a catalytic converter fitted?

Dealer told me NO. But I susspect different.

The stock 2010 sounds like a pussy!  Would a decent set of slipons sort it? anyone gone through this process with a 2010 FLHR recently? What did ya fit? Also are there any performance or sound benefits to be gained by getting rid of the Cat ?

    Cheers

    Get the power duals.

The 2009s all had cats, and so do the 2010s. And they have the flappy valve in the exhaust too, which is why they sound like crap.

To dig the cat out you gotta cut the headers in half at the rear weld, then weld it back together and rechrome it. the cat is oval, not round, so you cant just pull it out.

The cats radically cut down the sound of the bike. When my bike was 1800km old the right muffler fell off (literally - doing 120 down the freeway) and the bike still wasnt overly loud. You will never get a traditional sound with the cat there, in my opinion.

If you are still keen on pulling the cat out my old headers with the cat are on the wall in the shed, if you live on the south coast NSW then drop by and have a good look at them before you take the job on. Its possible but not recommended...

Or, (as some forum members have done) get a set of headers from America that don't have the cat in them. About $250 delivered from the US if you can find a set on flea bay or the US forums.

Mine. 09 FLHR, built Nov 08. The front 02 is fed from the same loom as the reg, which comes down from the backbone.

I wouldnt run the wires down / along the frame tube, i think it would look crap. But thats just me.

Thinking about it now I would find the wires at the ECM cut and re run them in the spaghetti next to the rear sensor to the collector. Whatever, its still a re wire.

Wow thanks for all your input fellas.

Certainly some stuff to think about there.

Have been looking at some header from Fuelmoto in the US, seem well made and reasonably priced. They are currently on Back order so they must be popular!

    Thanks again
