For NSW only,

Rule 106.02

Any rear light other than a reversing light is damaged to the extent that white light shows to the rear of the vehicle

Any amber clearance light or front turn signal is damaged so that it shows white light

Rule 106.03

Any light has a tinted cover over it

yeah i got done for mine along with other crap things, didn't meet some european shit standard that they have to even though they are a genuine harley accessory

Although it would be the last item to make my 1994 Fairmont unroadworthy, it has factory smoked tinting over all the back lights. The tail light, the brake light, the reverse light and the indicator. Plod would be really busy in Campbellfield. All he would need to do is wait for the new cars coming of the production lines.

Mine look great Had no probs while riding in QLD.....although they do tend to look over it big time at lights....dont know if they are admiring it or looking for a booking

hey crusty hes got a be talking shit, as Obiwan said there is heaps of cars with different coloured indicators, I reckon they make shit up half the time. We were riding a couple of weekends back 2 mates and the ladies on the back. 2 of queenslands finest were doing rbt on the other side of the road-had 3 cars pulled up but still managed to sprint across the road to bag us. My mate was learning to ride, he looked at his licence and said to him, you shouldnt be riding this harley on a learners--me mate said thats why Im on a 650 lambs approved yamaha, he moved onto my mates kingy and said your rolled up rego holder is illegal, I told him it wasnt and the cop said ok and let us go. thought he might have given me mate a ticket for riding 2 up on his learners--I think --na dont know what to think--cheers Grim

I remember reading about this a while back and Scotty and RT said if i remember correctly that there has to be something printed on the lense cover to be legal for Australian standards???

Yeah Id like to know that too. Thats the sort of info the UMC should be giving us...what are our rights and what are the lkaws the cops have to follow too.

I didn't bother reading everything above but, it seems to me that if something new is made for a motorcycle then the Federalies will do everything they can to collect revenue from it. When you think about it, you have to feel sorry for someone that has been "trained like a little puppy" to the point that he/she actually believes they are doing a good service if they fine someone for having smoked blinker lenses, cylindrcal rego holders, tail tidys etc ??  Then again, maybe being an areshole is just part of the requirement on the application for a traffic cop ?? It can only be one or the other, because there is certainly no common sense involved.
