    When I was 16-17-18:

50cc Mini Chopper (in my avatar pic)

    200cc Quad

    200cc Kawasaki Trail Bike

    Suzuki DR250

Now I'm 19 and currently own nothing, when I could be legally riding the trail bike. Fark.

But I have plans! First I need a job. Then get a Suzuki DR-Z400 to ride till I have my full license, and while I'm riding that I want to get a cheap Harley Sportster (or any cheap Harley I can get my hands on) to make noise in the driveway and piss my neighbors and their kids off and of course make into a chopper (to look a bit like the bike pic under my post \/) for when I'm legally able to ride it.

Including dirt bikes as a kid I'd guess i've had 20 or 30 bikes all up.

Lots of $1000 pigs that spent more time on the trailer / side of the road / in the shed / being kicked, sworn and spat at than actually being ridden.

The first road bike was a GSX250, then an old K2 750 that comes under the above description.

then lots of cheap jappas before a 5 year hiatus doing the mortgage and kids thing.2 GPZ1100's, some more honda 4's a couple of big chook chasers, GSXR that i did 1100 not stop km's on (only for fuel) and vowed I would never do that again...

Dead set, I bought, sold, traded, swapped that many complete buckets of shit over 25 years i can't remember them all and not sure I want to!! Still don't know what the hell I was thinking.

But the ones that stand out are - my MK3 lemans with all the good gear done and Agostini body kit (thanks Mario and mick) I absolutley loved that bike and should of kept it.

A couple of Ducati 600 panthers - one a real pig the other a sweet thing.

Buell M2 Cyclone. Nice, but I was getting a bit old for that sort of misbehaving.....

2009 street bob that I only put 2000ks on before trading for my current FLHR. Gotta say the Road King really does it for me now. Big, comfy, handles well, stops the missus whinging and goes quick enough to keep me happy. for now!

Hmmm, I'm feeling rather inadequate looking at these lists!!!

I guess I prefer to buy a bike and keep it till it breaks, or I break it, or I get sick of it! So, over 25 years I've only had a handful of bikes, but never gone without a bike (except for one frustrating 9 month period...).

Current bike I plan on keeping for the forseeable future... Love to add more to the stable, but alas, a man's gotta eat. You know the old saying, "You don't eat, you don't shit, you don't shit you die..."

    1980 Kawasaki LTD 250

    1982 BMW R65 (Dad's spare BM)

    1980 Yamaha XJ650

    1995 FXD

    1997 Triumph Daytona T595

    2002 FXD

    2004 FXDWG (Current)

    So there you have it...

Love BMW's... love Harleys even more. Always wanted one. In a couple of years time, I'll build up a collection of them ( I hope ... wife permitting ) .

Started off on the trusty brand new 1982  SuzukiGSX250, probably still get what I paid for it, about $1300 from memory

Suzuki GSX 750 (first feeling of real power..wow)

Yamaha RD350LC ( great fun bike pop powere band wheelies at will)

    GPZ900 ( wish I still had it)

CBR1000F (comfy as the day is long)

Ducati ST4s (996 motor, gotta love that sound)

BMW K1200GT (interstate blaster, 1900kms in one day, no problems, pity about smallish fuel tank)

Ducati 998 (missed that Ducati sound too much)

KTM LC4 690 ( what a bastard to kick over, tempramental bitch, I though my first ex was hard to get going)

Yamaha WR450F ( Hold on, this might hurt)

FLHTCU (finally admitted to myself  I'm an old bastard with stuffed knees)

Not much compared to others but almost 30 years of good almost clean fun.

Well I started in '62 using my dad's scooter. Some indistinct Italian thingy. I think it was about 79cc. Had to get off and push up any descent up hill grade!!

Then in 1964 my first bought bike was a 2nd hand Velocette 250cc. It had a twin opposed 2 stroke motor . It was all enclosed like a scooter but with m/cycle sized wheels. Motor seized whilst fanging in the outside lane. Couldn't afford to repair so sold as is.

1966 a borrowed 1950's AJS 500cc single with sidecar.  Sidecar struts failed and ended up in a lamp post!!  Resurrected and welded up the struts. Good fun when it ran. Spent lots and lots of time on the sde of the road particularly when raining and the famous 'Prince of Darkness' Lucas electrics died!!!!

Bit of a break when I came to Aus.

1972 2nd hand Suzuki 250 Hustler. Good to learn on but it did smoke a bit!!!

1973 new Suzuki GS 400. A great bike for commuting and weekend jaunts

1975 new Suzuki GS 750. Known as Black Beauty. Went to lots of Rallys. Did a trip from Sydney to Adelaide, then on to Kangaroo Island then York peninsular, up to Wilpena Pound, back to Victoria over to Tassie for a week and then back to Sydney. bike was ultra reliable and had over 180k when written off in an accident.

1979 new Suzuki GSX 750. never felt as good as the GS. was fast but not as comfortable on long rides. Was stolen in 1981!!!

1981 new HD Sturgis. Bought from Burling & Simons on Parramatta Rd Auburn. Attached DJP sidecar when son born.  Went to lots of Rallys 81 to 84. Reliable yes? Well always got me home.  Have had sidecar off since about 86. Still have it and sidecar.

2005 new HD Electra Glide Ultra Classic - all the fruit and affectionately called 'the couch'. Love it for those long rides. Longest has been Broken Hill to Brisbane, 1500+ks in about 16 hours. Like it's name Ultra reliable!!

During the 80's I did a lot of off road stuff with a bunch of guys. Bikes weren't registered just headed off to national parks or different properties that catered for bikes. Mainly 250-400cc Yammies.  lots of fun but now am suffering from destroyed knees !!!
