Lucky, been in the business 25 yrs (insurance broking). Thats not correct. How many Harleys have standard pipes? none of them insured? Your friend needs to talk to the right insurers. If he is doing an online tick abox quote chances are the default on non standard anything is decline. he only needs to google bike insurance. I am happy to help if someone needs it but am not on the forum for business.
Stay upright!
Broker.
In fact i had a call from a distressed client not knowing i was into bikes asking me if i knew any insurers that would insure his bike because every insurer he spoke to didnt have a clue and wouldnt insure. He had bought a Deus Ex Machina cafe Racer custom built by the guys here in Sydney off an imported 70's Yamaha frame. Had it insured same day for less than $500........ That was a bike where nothing was standard and was insurable.
No worries lucky, email me at aherrett@businsaust.com.au and we will sort it out.
Cheers

I had an at fault bike accident in feb 2012 and my greenslip has so far paid all costs through there lifetime care and support scheme.
The big catch being I had to suffer a "catastrophic" injury to qualify. In saying that I am glad that they have such a thing because my
bill so far is over 100k n rising. (that is the mcis levy of $100on ya greenslip). As for the super fund total disability that was only 60 grand
and I think claiming that would mean that I would be giving up any hope of returning to work.
