G'day all ive just bought an 88 fxrs lowrider that has been bought in from the states.

ive had to do a few things to get a vass check (compliance) such as change the headlight, take off the supertrapp 2 into 1, change the indicators to some that stick out more, which is the thing im having trouble with- the indicators.

i took them off (metal body-2 wires) and put the stock indicators off my old mans night rod, but when the lights are on they dont flash, if i put a test light on 1 wire and earth to the frame it flashes fine but then turn the lights on it stops-put it on the other wire with the lights off- nothing turn lights on- lights up but doesn't flash.

i beleive the old ones where wired up as running lights and indicators and earthed through the metal body(had 2 globes inside)

so now i have 1 power wire and 1 earth per indicator instead of 2 power wires and earth through the housing.

thanks for any and all reply's im getting very frustrated cause this is all thats stopping me getting rego, cheers.

Dont know if you have the ones that require you to hold the indicator switch on for them to flash. I have an 87 FXSTC, i bought a unit that connects up under the tank and will switch the indicators on for about 11 secs, also gets rid of any probs with LED fittings. Works gr8 and even gives you a hazard light function (??) Wired up myself with no idea and a set of instructions.

ive almost worked it out......hopefully.had a wire going from the starter relay to where there was 2 other orange ones on the circuit breakers, and had 1 terminal of the circuit breakers with nothing on it which is where the wiring diagram said it should be. got rid of the extra wires going to the indicators and earthed them, ive managed to get the indicators to come on when the lights are on but they still dont flash. if it has constant power when the lights are on and it is getting a flashing signal the constant power would just override the flashing?? so if i find where the constant power is coming from and give that the arse they should flash???? this really is doing my head in..
non led indicators, hold switch on.
i will introduce myself and thanks for the help
