    Day 2
This is the bike loaded up ready for the days trip to Adelaide.
Up at sparrow fart, well early anyhow & off to Balranald for brecky as there looked like there would be nothing in Moulmain to sustain me for the mornings riding.
Now to get things straight I got the day that I started wrong in the previous post, I actually started on Friday so today was Saturday morning as I sped into Balranald. From what I can remember it is a fairly remote part of Oz but not real remote just on the edge of the big agriculture & fruit country of the riverland, dry scrubby land to the north & irrigated to the south. Got to Balranald about 9.00am & found a (the) bakery café & had a toasted sanga & a cup of coffee, both edible & drinkable but would not survive with a bit of competition. That’s life in the country & there are other benefits that outweigh these sorts of things like clear open roads to fang on with your Harley D. Next town on the horizon was to be Mildura with its huge boulevards that only compares with the cleavage of its favorite daughter of Spicks & Specs fame. Lunch at Renmark, on your way into town from the east you need to turn right as you hit the town center & go about 1 to 200 meters to find the bakery/patisserie for a good pasty & coffee. The riding through the riverland towns is a bit slow as the speed limits do not go up to 110 km much & quite a few of the towns are close together with 70 – 90 kph limits. But as it was the wine making season I often got the whiff of the lees or the fermenting process which is sort of pleasantly interesting.
Nothing much interesting happening along this route, stopped at Swan Reach to fuel up & phone my brother to announce my imminent arrival in a couple of hrs time & headed on down through the northern approaches of Adelaide. Good to catch up with my bro & have a bed for the night, he even took me out for a meal, a beer & picked up the tab.
640 km for the day, sort of doesn’t sound like a lot but it was a long day. I did stop for a bit of food a few times & the old bladder/prostate is a bit loose so if I put another 11/2 hrs into it at say 160 km then 800km would look a bit better. Not working for the pony express though.
