Haven't done it yet... I've got a bit side tracked working on a car, so the bikes on the back burner for the time being. - Cant afford to have it off the road.

Looks good .... let us know what the results are on completion!

What was the price landed at your door, what is included in the kit  and what does the 'prefit' include?

Whole thing cost me less than $900aud here.

Prefit is exactly that, prefit / gap rings to pistons & prefit to bores.

All done....  Fitted the kit & all went well but some of the lower barrel fins needed linishing to fit though.. - Ended up leaving the heads stock for the time being, may end up with some 1200 heads down the track.

The difference all ready is like chalk & cheese! - Its got some shove!

Will run it in & around for a 1000km or so & build on the tune & After that I might even pop it on the dyno to see what it makes.

Congrats on getting the kit fitted I know where you are coming from after owning a few 883 Sportsters and now on my second 1200 Sportster there is no going back like you said power wise it is like chalk & cheese and wait to you get the heads done as well more power to play with but for now enjoy your ride cheers.

Gday all, have been reading all the posts on 883/1200 big bore kits and were wondering if you are using  the same weight pistons or just throw them in and go for  the 5 spd vibrator effect?

On a downside, found something alarming also on inspection of the old pistons. - Considerable carbon build up, after only 4600kms. - Mind you, they have been very, very hard Kms. - I think this issue stems from they SE heavy breather's internal / breather system. - I might look at modifying the heavy breather for external breathers.

The carbon build up is probably the breather system not coping to well at continuos high revs but something to think about is ring leakage , the Factory assembly is only running about 40% as acceptable ( Resulting in Higher running temp at high speeds , Lose of available power ,Eccesive " Blow By " and carbon buildup around the ring and land area . ) Piston to bore clearance / Bore Roundness / Ring gap are All contributive factors youre " engine builder Builder has to play with .
As fore bolt on stuff out of the box you still have no youre stuff to get the full effect
Now if I were contemplating 883/1200 conversion I,d start with a set of Keith Black same weight pistons and find someone who will bore youre barrels so they are not square , some lage dia black diamond valves a reseat and some gaskets a little bit more duration and or lift in the cam dept ( Not too much or you will alter youre valve geometry and thats a longer story
If you get what you have right you would be surprised how well it goes -----That is for a Dinosaur :o)

The '10 Iron uses different barrels with thinner liners to previous 883's. - Issue is, not enough material to bore to 1250. - So I've been told. :)

NRHS kit is Axtell / NRHS barrells, CP forged pistons, Total seal rings & Cometic gaskets.

Got to http://www.nrhsperformance.com They know their stuff and Dan is great to deal with.

Walka's product is spot on, Infact I have an air filter kit here he was generous enough to supply me with that I've been saving for a rainy day / another project.

Correct-o-mondo about the breather system. - I'm going to have a go at converting the SE heavy Breather to external venting breathers in the comming weeks.

In a production run it is cheaper to make a lot of one part than some of two so I cant see them ( hd ) making two different barrels for the same thing .
Then again the stupid pricks are in finacial dire straits againHaving done a few conversions (late 80's ) I think the Kieth Black pistonkit is 1205cc Maybe that sneeks in

The photos of youre barrels do show plenty of cast " meat " maybe the prob is in the casting ( Low Grade ) resulting in core shift ,

I think this would be it good enough to do what they want not good enough to do what you want ---------except spend what I call cubic dollars

Dont realy like youre pistons with the big oval cut outs in the top of the piston that is prehistoric but I know nothing about fuel injection

I dont like the way they look either... Luckily I can't see the pistons now that they are inside the engine.

I sure do like the way it goes though. :)
