05 Valve Seal Bite

    G'day Guys

I'm pretty sure the valve seals have signed off (common problem in 05"s) as the last few rides I have been on I have had to top up with oil each time at the end of every ride.

I have done about 1000 km for about 1 Litre of oil.

Timing for this is ok with me as bike is getting striped down over winter for new 95" upgrade & headwork with new viton valve seals.

Now question for the HD mechanical guru's, could I still ride it for about another 1000km whilst still topping up with oil or will this do damage to the engine or should I stop riding now.

Bike has 19 000 km's on it & I would not have a clue where the oil is going.

Cheers for any input in advance.

If your pulling it down for a top end rebuild i`d just keep topping it up, i have a shovel with no valve seals, and top up the tank when req, check your plugs and your inlet manifold you can get oil sitting in there when the valve seals go.Valve seals were rarely used till the late 70`s but no doubt someone may correct me.

    Thanks for your input guys.

Checked plugs last night, they were black, but no oiley residue on them, although the front one was blacker than the rear one.

    Cheers
