    Gday Sporty riders,

My wife has recently bought a new Iron and was wondering what other Iron owners use to clean the paint on their Iron that doesn't put a shine on the paint.

Frasers Perth said to use windex but we are not sure about that as windex says not for use on paint.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    91FXR & 2010 Iron.

For your viewing pleasure I have included a pic.

91, I use dish washing detergent when it's mega dirty but for the rest of the time a quick hit with Windex. Quick and easy. No probs so far.

I used the harley sunwash concentrate and follwed the instructions in the owners manual very closely.
I did not haowever use the harley gloss on the tank as this will shine it up rather than keep the matt denim.
Use ammonia based window cleaner on the tank if you want a quick clean as per the owners manual.
The sunwash does the trick though i also used a lambswool mitt and micro fibre cloths that i got from an auto parts place very cheep.
I will also investigate the dryer too as drying by hand is a bitch and i couldnt get to every bit of the bike.
plus ever time i wash it seems to rain and i get crap all over the bike any way lol.
I also had good results with silvo for the pipes made by the same mob as do brasso.
I used the harley wheel cleaner too worked well.
    Happy cleanin" !!!

That maybe so man just seems a bit misleading in the manual.
talks about using gloss finish and how that will affect the denim paint says it will make it more gloss over time.
it does say that harley gloss is compatible with the denim but i found it misleading and as usual there isnt a great deal of product info on the hd website and the dealers never really know. it said something about using a wax coating as a sacrificial finish. like i said was a bit confusing
if it dont contain wax then its probably a good bet.
but who knows new bike i aint game to experiment on my paint yet lol
