Has anyone used a WindVest windscreen? I am getting a bit of buffeting and found that if I crouch down a bit it gets better. The only problem is that if I get the next size up standard windscreen it will probably come just across my eye level. I thought getting a WindVest the same height as my current one may help.

    Any thoughts?

Yep get your self a bigger windscreen mate . I run a 2009 FLHTCU I had the std 10 inch, get over 90 ks and its like the guy on the fastest indian. It shakes your bloody head until your teeth ware away, the steelers dont tell you this. I replaced it with a 15 inch no probs with the wind . Could have got away with the 12 inch but the steelers only had 1 in stock .Couldnt wait for them to get a 12 inch in to WA (stands for wait a while). I suppose it depends on how tall you are. The 15 inch looks ok but when you get behind it feels  huge till you get used to it. good luck with it. Twotone

Thanks, mate. I think I will have to get another screen. It's just that I'm judging that the top of the 12" one would come right across my eye-line and I would have to look through a 15" which I'd rather not. That's why I was thinking a WindVest might be the answer. The 10" WindVest is $149 US.

Just checked the wind vests out on the net ,didnt know they existed . I might try to warm my old 10 inch up with a heat gun and bend it the same.Could be worth a go think they are only perspex, let you know if it works .watch this space!

a couple of years ago I purchased a screen for a japper I had from Peter Edwards of Screens for Bikes in Resevoir Vic,

Peter works from home & can make up a screen to suit your requirements from your plans if he does'nt have it in stock..

He does have Harley screens...give him a ring & see what he can do for you...

     Thanks for your input everyone.

I was all set to order a WindVest as I wanted one with a recurve to help with the buffeting. That is until I discovered they want $125 US for shipping! No thanks!

I think I'll try a cheap taller one from eBay, that way if it doesn't suit at least I haven't lost nearly $300.00!! Thanks for the link DuHast.

Have a look at Long Ride Shields in particular their "X Stream". Shipping charges to Gippsland Vic is USD $30. I know this as I have had two separate shipments sent to me recently. Excellent service and fast shipping.

    Long Ride Shields http://harleyshields.com/

The X Stream looks a whole lot better on the bike than in the photos. All of the air over and around the X Stream is "clean air" meaning no more batwing buffeting or dirty air coming around the side of the OEM screen.

The first one they sent me had fitment issues which I adjusted to fit with a bit of filing on the outer 2 mounting holes. I mailed LRS to let them know this and they sent me another one free and they ate the shipping as well.

@V2Evo96: LRS looks like they have what I'm looking for and at a reasonable price. Unfortunately I have already ordered a taller standard screen from eBay. If it turns out to not do the job I'll consider LRS!

@GB: Thanks for the offer. If I find I still need one and you still have it I'll get more details.

Hey mr K picked up Grahams 10 inch w v screen this week. Tried it today 120k no probs, im 5.10 and can see clearly over the screen. You dont get the rib reflection off the top like the original.Think it depends on how tall you are.

Problem solvered.think its to do with how high you sit in the sadle. Grahams tall 6.2- 6.3. I didnt have a prob with it at all. good luck and all the best.  this is the 15 inch  _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ FLHTCU 2009 Candy apple root beer.

Thanks, I'll check out the deflectors. Most of it is coming over the top though. The higher windshield has helped.

Hi there, been re-visiting the screens and am just wondering what you think of the X-Stream now? What size is it? I'm finding on my ultra at anything over about 90kph I'm getting buffeting that makes it hard to focus on the scenery.
