A friend of mine has a 06 softail standard ,And when it warms up it runs like crap missing and farting ,,,,

He reckons he got a bad batch of fuel as it happened after he filled up,,,

He has cleaned out all the fuel he could but hasnt got around to trying it again work got in the way

Is there anything you can put in the new fuel to clean out injectors,,,

Or should it come good once the new fuel comes through,,,, Maybe somebody has had same shiza happen to them

on the carby models we put metho in ,gets rid of moisture and freshens up stale fuel

hey guys just adding my 2 cents worth here, recently well about 6 months ago i filled up at a servo and the fuel was full of shit dirty water like mud and bits of rusty shit in it and my bike ran lilke shit, i pulled fuel tank off twice and physicaly wiped out all debris and cleaned the fuel filters and pump area which is internal in my fuel tank, put fresh fuel in but still runs up the shit, ive also tried injector cleaners and octane boosters etc to no avail and it just gives me the shits because my bike was running fine b4 the shit fuel went in. like my bike runs good at 100k/ph but runs rough at normal engine load at speeds below about 80ks so i think my next step to fixing the issue will have to be a new engine management system grrr more fucking money and then a new air cleaner etc so just my two cents, bloody pisses you off when you pay good money for a product and it fucks everything up, cunts shouldn't be allowed to sell fuel if its shit

Nimo,cant see why you would need a new engine management system ,chances are your fuel filter is still clogged or there is still water in the system

Someting that might be worth checking/cleaning after getting shitty fuel through an injected bike is the little air thingy behind the airfilter on the inside of the throttle body.

Sorry I can't remember what it's called, I do remember reading about it on another thread, if they get a bit of oil or crap in the duct it will cause the engine to run like shit.

Some of the more experienced forum members may remember what this thingy is called or had experience with it?

thanks lastrain i had the air cleaner off the other day and remembered what you said and i wiped as best as i could with a clean rag and metho on it and got a little bit of crud off what i think is the sensor your talking about and bike is running tiny bit better but still up the shit and ive sort of gotten used to it running this way but still annoys the hell out of me

I think the best fix for cleaning them out wast to spray the crap out with some ether or contact cleaner
