    Some of ya' may alread know this, but for those that don't IMPORTANT....
    You need a V-check lads before buying a car / bike used in NSW, get this;

    Guys I'm helping a mate buy a car and I know a thing or two about them.
    Finally find the "right" vehicle. Stevo's in the bank drawing up a bank cheque for the owner

    and I'm in my car on the internet having just done full REVS check - comes up 100% clean,
    mate rings whos a mechanic and says check this https://www.vedaauto.com/WhatWeOffer.aspx site out in case car was a write off in VIC or QLD and being sold here.

    Sure enough, car is a Write Off in Victoria, was previously registered down there, and written off due to Water Damage.
    We got out of that deal quickly, and as I was telling the owner this etc it quickly dawned on me everything they said, there elaborate story, the whole situation was a crock of shit.
    They had been playing us from the moment we pulled in the driveway.

    My mechanic mate later admits he always thought revs covered the lot and just 2 weeks ago a guy comes in with a schmick new Mercedes and (he knows my mate well) admits its a complete write off he's bought from auctions in Melbourne and rebuilt and the next owner will only know if they do a V and that 90% of NSWelshmen of course just go by Revs.

    I'm going to give the rta/gov a hard time about this as people should be aware and they should invest in a national website/database. What a joke.

    V check lads, saved our bacon, tell everyone u can i reckon!

    you have a few options but it will cover both REVS , accident ( wheter insurable write off or not ) , theft . it also has some data on k's on the vehicle ( everytime something has been entered onto the database . for instance if i do a V-check , i can also nominate the k's on the vehicle in question at the time i am looking at it

    Yeah guys I looked into this bit more (before complaining to RTA hehehe) and RTA does do it, it is $18.00. But make no mistake you DO NOT get this info by doing REVS.

    Anyway here is email I sent to work colleuges which has the RTA link....

    Hi all, happy Easter! Look sorry if you already know this but it was news to me & I’d hate to see anyone ripped off...

    I’ve bought a few 2nd hand cars & always been familiar with doing a Revs check, but this is actually just for finance/encumbrance on the vehicle, it’s simply not enough these days... If you buy a used vehicle, be bloody sure to run this check ($25 or I got the full one with certificates for $42.00). https://www.vedaauto.com/WhatWeOffer.aspx or the RTA written off vehicle check for just $18.00 at https://ols2.rta.nsw.gov.au/VehicleHistoryCheck/

    Story is; I went on the weekend to help out a friend from Canada buy a car, all looked 100%, Revs check came up fine, then this V-check found it was a WRITE OFF from VIC due to flood damage! (My mechanic mate that gave me the Site said dodgy people out there are making a killing as they buy the wreck in QLD or VIC then quick repair & register in NSW as so many Sydneysider’s trust or know about Revs only) And don’t be fooled, they are even more likely to do this stuff on newer / prestige / higher value vehicles as more margin for them and less likely questions from you!

    Maybe I’ve just been living under a rock, but if the above was also news to you then tell your buddies! ?
