i've just recently bought a brand new XLN883, cool bike.  But, about 160kms into wearing it in, it started making a strange noise.

Hard to describe but its like a metallic noise, like a tiny bell ringing. Anyway, took it to my local dealer. He said "all sounds pretty normal to me, just put pipes on it"

So i just kept riding it, now has 1600kms, coming up to first service. Noise is still there, now i notice if i hold the revs or decelerate, the engine noise is horrible.

I'm afraid their going to say the same thing, "just put pipes on it".

Been reading up about it, everyone says the same thing. Dealer says its ok, just live with it.

I know the Evo's are noisy, but surely not like this. Anyone come across this.

    Cheers.

Mine does the same thing. - I thought it was pinging there for a while, but no matter how much timing I took out or fuel I added it wouldn't go away, and there was no other tell tlae signs of pinging either. - Mines a top end rattle. Very audiable from the left side.

I don't care that it rattles, I just wish i knew if it was pinging or not so I can screw some advance back into it! :)

its a definate engine noise, problem is the more throttle, the louder it gets.
I'll sit on 130km and still hear it. Just annoying thats all.
I used different fuels, no change.
I know there noisy and vibrate, its just this one perticular little ringing, gives me the shits.
