Old H_D is full of questions today boys!!  Just got my bike lift on Friday so having wheels off the ground lets me play with new things!! Anyway, just noted the rear caliper mount is grazing the disc very slightly. Have checked alignment and its perfect. Should I just shim the gap between the spacer and the swingarm witha 20 thou shim? Opinions please

    Thanks Guys

hi, check the disc with a straight steel ruler to see if is dished in or out if you put  too much heat into them they will dish,            instead  using the front brake,     you can over heat the rear & they will dished ,     esp on softails ,   what model is yours ?

Thanks Daddy, Im a dumb fuck at times, put the dial indicator on it, limited runout and didnt even think to straight edge it. Slightly dished it is. Strange thing is while I was out riding on Saturday I was thinking I should do it and then dismissed it as impossible........have given myself an uppercut

Hound-Dog, hard to concentrate watching that girl...my rear caliper was close to the disc on the inside,as the pads wore it allowed caliper to contact rotor, result = dished disc rotor...dont replace the rotor before you centre the caliper over the new rotor...you will need to look at your axle spacers...not a big job if you have a lathe to turn up the correct size spacers.

Cheers Barma, mate has a lathe and I started life as a fitter machinist so no worries there. Everything looks ok now

hi, good if you can check rear wheel centre behind steering head  with bike upright & level  & make sure rear pulley alignment to front pulley  & set disc to in the middle of the caliper mount , with new pads or can  mill old 1's if enough meat left,  to save $

always flush out & bleed F/R M/cyl  every 6 mths  on every bike  esp rears on harleys   have a good weekend
