XL - All I had to do was take a Dremel with a sanding drum to the edge that goes around the base of the risers. You can't tell it was ever touched, and it was only a few mm that had to come off.

COSTY - Yes - They are the Kury siwng arm covers. :)

Looks good xlr8it I almost bought that exact one but in the end decided to buy a Russ Wernimont tail light/ license plate holder, lookin for another fatboy guard to chop it up and French it into so I can keep my original one

2008 FXST. More interested with the mechanicals than the bling.

Nothing too radical. Stage 4. Upgraded front brake, Seat. Handlebars,Fatter front rim, exhaust, heated grips(you would too if you lived here).

Like it more now, than when it rolled outa the showroom by a country mile.

Gidday Far Canal ... nice ride you have there ... I have a 08 FXSTC and went with the wider front rim as well ... just a query , how did you mount the front guard , I went down the path of grinding

out the mounting holes and raising the guard so it wouldn't rub on the wider tyre ... just curious as to ways other people would have done it .

Hey Far canal, looks like a V&H 2 into 1, thinking the same for my fatty. Are you happy with how they sound? Heard them on another one and they seem like the shit to me.. Would like a further opinion if you dont mind.

Hi Binsy. Yes I am happy with how they sound. But I guess it depends on what sound you want to hear. Previously had the S&S slash cut slip ons fitted. They were really loud. These ones are a bit quieter. I don't mind that. When I had the stage 4 job done on my bike I decided that a 2 into one pipe would be the way to go to extract the most HP from the engine. Although the V&H mob had a reportedly better 2 into 1 available at the time( I think it was called a " pro sport";) I just did not like the look of the things, and the HP advantage was minimal between the 2.

Use to scrape the slip ons as well on corners. Have not scraped these one yet. Better riders might have(probably have).

I don't see the point of having the loudest pipes.

The plod here don't seem to give a shit, but I have ridden in other places where the guys with really loud bikes seem almost embarassed and are on tenterhooks for fear of the cop with the decibel counter..In fact I have been embarassed riding with a particular bloke due to the noise of his fricken pipes.(think he was too!)

Either way the pipes I have fitted probably would not pass a legal noise test, should I run into a decibel meter wielding advocate for the law.

Thanks Far Canal, just what I'm after, something a tad quieter. My fatboy has drag pipes on it and it's as loud as hell. Too loud. Only a matter of time before I get pulled over I'd imagine. Thanks for the opinion. Sweet looking ride too, like it.

Thanks for reply ... you went the same as me making the holes longer so to speak and lifting guard ... just nice to know I was on the right path ... I also looked at those sportster guards , I reckon a fabed up bracket would have to be the go there ... anyhow cool ride , have fun .

    Correct Harley Rims sorry,

VPW i got the rims from went with a 21x3.5 front nice and fat for looks and the ride is still perfect

Not fussed i do have 2 fenders to choose from to put on but i like the look of it without! but probaly putting the stock one back on after alterating it .

Rims are good only down fall getting a copy rim from vpw they do tend to surface rust if you dont look after them ill cleaned and ploshied and sealed and use silcone spray (crc) on the rim to keep it clean!

Here's my 87 FXST standard, a work in progress.  Originally the colour was a white pearl, the current colour of the fuel tank.  I'm changing this to HD Black Cherry, the tank is the next to be done.  Just got an S&S Shorty carb kit to fit on as well, and maybe new pipes coming too (due to being nabbed for noisy exhaust pipes).
