just completed some minor cosmetic changes and major motor improvements. ( thanks Dynoharley!)

Raked front end using the triple tree set from Arlen Ness. ( 7 degree)

new Roland Sands  16 "Angry Apes and grips

its pretty different to ride compared to my old Burleigh apes, alot narower ....

crap pics , I know but only got it out today for half hour between heavy showers

isnt it funny how one thing leads to another when fiddling with stuff

I started out with just wanting to swap the front springs out and ended up with a new go fast top end, raked front new bars grips and cables new clutch new ignition

air ride rear suspension blah blah

ive forgotten what I actually started out doing!

Looks great fatmatt. Those are the better looking of RSD apes, and I think they are even better looking then the Buliegh high balls. I like the less of a radius
I was thinking about an rsd tracker rear fender but I'm not a fan of their rsd seats, how do you find them? They look like you sit pretty far back?
One other thing have the boys on blue said anything about your open primary? I got an exile unit almost here and it pretty much has no gaurds, wondering if ill get hassled over it

    Thanks squidly

the RSD seat is cosy enough, but defiantly sits you further back.

i like it cause my legs are almost fully extended

I prefer to siting " in "rather than " on " if that makes sense.

the new apes are better position wise as the are adjustable ,the burleighs were fixed mount and had me leaning at an awkward position.

i can't remember if the strutsr are the tracker ones or another name.,they make another style which wasn't the flowing look I was going for.

i didn't use the guard that came with the kit BTW. thats a cut down 9" rigid one

the open primary...........yes you will be pinned for it and as you live in the great state of Qld it will cost you points as well as money.

After much deliberations ( and cost) I put a cover on mine. It's painted flat black so it blends in to the motor as much as possible.

im surprised you haven't been nailed with your pointy apes already?

your bike looks shit hot in a Mad Max kinda way but down this way (GC), they pounce on anything remotely pointy

I'm living back on the Gold Coast, but won't be bringing the bike back until later in the year. I have been hassled about the height of my apes but that's it, never even a ticket for them. If I drop to shorter risers then they will just fall under legal height, but it's the pointy bits that make it look higher so I'm thinking of going either burleighs high balls or the rsd's you got.
Your number plate angle, you haven't been hassled about that?
I hoping being my open primary is wrinkle black it will blend in, maybe even explain it's factory Haha ah I don't like my chances.
What did you do with the RSD guard in the kit?

What height are the bars? cause I dont reckon you would be anywhere near the legal maximum regardless of the risers.

I posted the Qld  regs for modification guidelines on this forum a couple of weeks ago.

have a squidly at it , will give you a frown ill bet.

Touch wood , i havnt been hassled about the number plate althouigh I know its illegal.

I moved it there from a side mount that i got pinged for.

as for the rsd guard its long been sold. Im not sure if RSD are still making the kits in that style anymore. Rollies might know.

heres a pic i took today at a mates warehouse.

I hate graffitti tags but really dig graffitti art. theres a huge difference.

They're 14". From my understanding from what I've read around the place is that it's 380mm from the bars fixed point to the lowest point on your grips. 380mm is 15", so if that correct I should be just about under it. If the fixed point is from the trees and not the risers then if I drop the risers then I should still fall under it. I once read it was taken from the seat, but everyone I've discussed it with have all shot me down on that saying it's for the bars fixed point. Either way I'm thinking some more subtle bars might draw me less attention.

Fuck 380mm off the seat doesn't allow for much height at all

Where did he buy them from and what brand?

mine started rusting within a month of getting them

I complained to the seller eventually got a replacement sent but it had buckles and dents in the rim pretty sure it was a second hand unit .i took photos to prove it but haven't used them ( yet) as I was completely over the whole saga after that and didn't need the agro in my life at that point

.............And it rusted just as bad and quickly as the first one.

I gave up trying to save them from rusting and consigned myself to new rims from a different seller when more funds are saved .

I feel a can of worms opening here.....

Some if not all of the standard harley spokes are not even chrome, they are nickel plated just like bicycle spokes. Live on the coast aswell, best way I've found to clean rust off either chrome or nickel plating is grab some aluminium foil out of the kitchen and a bowl. Dip foil in bowl full of water and rub, they come up like new if the rust is just surface rust and not pitted. Works wonders on old exhausts etc that have been sitting in the shed for ages and got surface rust too. Stainless is just iron/steel with chrome (12%-18%) and sometimes nickel or other elements added to it depending on the grade. In the right set of circumstances stainless steel can corrode faster than plain steel will. Just have alloys on instead now and go riding more, but this is how shiny polishing with wet aluminium foil comes up.
