    G'day HD Forum...

    New member here... Names Ric...

I get my first Harley in 3 weeks.... bloody shipping... She's an Iron 883 in Black Denim... from Blacktown Harley Davidson...

I'm joining the forum cause there is a million things I want to customise...

My wife really wants to be able to go for cruises with me so I'm looking at all the different seating options...

Solo with either of the 2 pillion pads recommended in harley accesory book, or the rallyrunner king&Queen seat or the Sidekick seat... Ideas and Pics would be great...

Been reading about the licks solo bag and the foot peg issue and Sprocket's self made bag looks golden... so i'm thinking about making my own... and customizing its size so pillion pegs dont interfere...

Heres the other thing I'm stuck on Pipes.... Everyone seems to have Vance & Hines.. Short shorts or sideshots... been looking arounf and have seen the Bassani Sweepers, but cant find anyone is Aus who has them...

I'm really after a short black style exhaust

Have a look at this bike cause this look is what I'm goign for

    http://www.youtube.com/user/msica420#p/u/9/R8koH2WfLaE

Love that JD air intake... any ideas wher ei can get something like that in Aus?

    Cheers

    Chat with you all soon

    Ric

If you are planning on pillioning on any 883, I would invest in a decent set of YSS or Ikon shocks first.

Good luck with it and welcome to the nuthouse.

    Regards Lofty

Call Walka about the Blassinis as I think he sells them 03 8405 9212

Depends on your taste but the V&H bark is way too loud for me. Some other people haven't been able to ride with them without ear plugs and I understand they also reduce power. Look great though.

    Hey Rick

Welcome to the crazy forum site.

A place in cyberspace that we often can meet face to face.

Keep an eye on your states 'Events and Rides".

I also got my ride through HD Blacktown.  I have found them very good.

However, I would suggest you consider purchasing your goodies from US of A vide the net.

I get my stuff from mandmcycles.com others here on the forum get theirs from other places in the US.

Much cheaper and if you keep yo0ur purchases under A$1000 (not US$) then no import duty.

Far cheaper to purchase HD parts from the US and they arrrive on your door step (tracked by internet) in no time at all.

    Food For Thought anyway.

    Once again - welcome mate.

    Welcome to the forum Ric.

Dunno what size you n the missus are but I agree with the concensus here regarding your shocks. I ride a 1200 sporty custom with a sundowner seat which gives plenty of comfort to both rider and pillion. If you're only gonna throw it on now n again for the missus it won't look too bad on the bike but I think an iron really needs to be a solo most of the time to get the effect you originally bought it for.

    Cheers everyone...

Yeah I was looking at the Two Up Profile Low Rear Shock Kit From Harley Acccesory Catalog.. $256 as a definate investment.... my wife is about 55kgs but I'm not a small fella

    From site about them

"These heavy-duty shocks and springs are tuned for the touring rider carrying the weight of a passenger or loaded saddlebags. The shock length and spring rate have been engineered to maintain the original-equipment seat height. The chrome-bodied shocks feature adjustable preload for a comfortable, controlled ride. The Two-Up Low Rear Shock Kit fits 2007-later XL883L and XL1200N Nightster models"

Hey Lofty, Phantom & majorboot .. Do you think the YSS or Ikon shocks would be better than harley shocks for the cost???

Burraburra, cheers mate... I've heard that from a bunch of people too.. My uncle in leeton does the same thing... so I'll give it a go... see how the prices compare...

Yeah the King n Queen/pillion seat will be and add on whent he missus wants a ride... but most of the time I'll be in solo seat mode...

Cheers on the info for Walka I'll give him a buzz and see if he has them...
