G'day all I need some help I want to replace the plank on my bike that Harley call a seat now I know there are a few aftermarket seats out there but which one to chose and at the moment I am looking at the Mustang Day Tripper someone I know has one on there Sportie and tells me it if a far better seat than the Harley one but he still gets a sore arse after riding for a while or I can look at the Sundowner seat it looks like it may have a bit more padding for the old rear end but I am not over fussed about the looks from the photo I seen with this seat on a bike also I am told it can sit you up to two inchs higher something I don't want, Arrrr which way to go why can't they make bikes with bloody good seats to start with.

    Hey Choco,

I changed from the standard seat to the sundowner and it made a huge difference.  Long rides still gave a sore ass.  Only just got a mustange vintage solo last week.  Went for a 550km ride on the weekend. Pretty damn comfy.  Only a slight numb bumb.  The seat is a bit higher though.

I don't know much about them (I changed my plank (original seat) for a harder plank (Lepera barebones) coz they look better), but you could check out gel filled seats. They are supposed to be thin, but much more comfortable.

Well all lounge chair jokes aside I have ordered the Sundowner seat for my bike and next after the seat will be some new shocks and hopefully this should make the Sportie more comfortable on a long ride.

G'day just a photo of my bike with the Sundowner seat fitted  yer they are a bit chunky but if it's going to give me more comfort on a long ride I learn to live with the looks of it.

Went for a little ride today with the new seat fitted and it is thumbs up so far a lot more happy with it than the Harley plank that was fitted to the bike I've got an overnighter coming up at the end of this month and I now can say I am looking forward to going on it without the worry how my rear end will cope with this ride.
