Belt Adjustment

Well the time has come that I have to get a new rear tyre. Seeing as though the bike is unregistered I will have to take the wheel off at home. This brings me to my question. According to the manual I need to have somone sitting on the bike so I can get the right deflection on the belt. Is there a specification for the measurement if I am going to perform this at home & by myself with the wheel off the ground (on a bike lift)?

    Cheers

or mark with tape or paint pen on yr swingarm up against the axle head and axle nut (on the rear side) then tighten back up to that position,

it's easier than measuring and trying to read fractions of millimetres.

Just keep an eye on belt tracking for a while after in case you have to make any adjustments.

Make up yourself special tool No.47. Get a braizing rod and sharpen one end to a point  then bend it at 90 degreesabout  3/4" from the end. Then get a zippy and put it firmly on the long side but loose enough that you can move it along the rod. Your axle should have a center hole / indent on both ends ( EVO's do) and if you look there should be a small hole  a few inches forward in the swingarm on both sides. Put the pointed end of the "special tool"into the hole in the swingarm and slide the zippy untill it lines up with the center hole of the axle, repeat for the other side, simple Then hang the Special Tool up on the wall ready for next time.

While you have it up on a stand it might be a good time to run a string line and check how the wheels are running.

It's all easier than it sounds
