G'Day guys. Well, decided it is time for a new jacket so have started having a look around. Went to MCA yesterday......unimpressed to say the least. Have had a look on Ebay but a bit wary of buying something so important online and not being able to check for fit beforehand. Anyway, any suggestions boys on places to look etc?

    Cheers

My jacket's from Aldi and IMO is great. Also a Kakadu oilskin full length coat which can be buttoned up around the legs.

     Hound_dog,

If your ever in Melb, checkout Mars Leathers in Elizabeth St. I got a denim lined Brando jacket off them probably 25yrs ago and still wearing it but it is a little tighter now. Still in top nick too. Had to replace the zip a few years ago and get one seam stitched up Value for money I reckon

    . It's a black one too

You mean we don't have here what your riding jacket looks like? Should I start with a post of what my leather or vest looks like?

This guy looks pretty well tuned in on the latest leather fashions, maybe we could find out who his tailor is.

Jeez Hound dog you got some shit in your responses here.

I have just got one from http://bikersgearaustralia.com/details.php?TiD=MTcwLTIyMC0wLTc1Mg==&Txid=a60d589aed1ca1ce186f91d517600e0b I bought the Harley Jacket but am now thinking maybe I would like the Brando style now. Not that there is anything wrong with the one I have got, the leather quality is really good, the workmanship is good, the fit is good (I called them to describe my size) & the price is really good, under $200 + postage. Bought some gloves, from the same place, they are great & am now awaiting a pair of leather chaps. I am gearing up for a big (for me) ride across the big brown land from East to West & back next week, so I will be able to give a good road test on them in a cou;le of weeks time.

If you don't mind buying O/S, than US made Fox Creek Leather is top quality. I reckon it is the best money could buy:

You do pay the price though..

I bought a genuine HD leather jacket 2 years ago. Was bit apprehensive at first. But top quality bit of kit. Two years on, it is still like new. Fits well and made well.

Hey Delux, that ' worn leather" one with  the shoulder pads from the early 80's big boy is mine you prick, and I even gave you a reach around FFS. You told me I never left it at your place, you said it was left at the "beat" while we were break dancing with the old Greek guy

And to think I even made out I was a "bird" and "swallowed"

All jokes aside, jackets are VERY IMPORTANT, which is why I always have my pototoes in their jackets, stops them from being "mashed"

    Cheers

I got this one from Bikers Gear Australia-- BUT all the zippers on mine are black and the only zipper with a pull tag is on the main closing zipper:

$129 with zip out liner and vents on the arms, body and back. Oh yeah-- it's black as well....

Hey there, i got my jacket  back in '07 off ol' e-bay from bikers gears, it's a brando style (like Mr Presley would've worn). $160 delivered to my door, 5xl man, that's pretty cheap, considering there's a shit load of leather there, it must've taken a full grown fresian to supply the hide at least

After all these years I found the FXRG midweight to be the best allrounder. Expensive but for serious use its the one IMHO. Try Chigago Harley. They make them in a good range of sizes. Not waterproof for serious day after day rain but ok in afternoon rain storms and the like.
