Hi...... I realise that this has more than likelly been covered waaay to many times, but a search didn't satisfy me..
So one more time please, i just want to make the rigth decision straigth-up
I'm currently in the market for a motor for my project bike..{Prowler frame, Evo or twincam style motor mounts apparently)
I have only owned Jap & Euro bikes before, which gives me VERY little knollage on the harley and aftermarket harley motors..
So far this is where i'm at :-
The S&S dealers say S&S or Genuine harley, (avoid Ultima & Revtech)
The Revtech dealers say Revtech or Genuine HD (avoid Ultima & S&S)
One S&S & Ultima dealer said S&S or Genuine (avoid Ultima)???
The Ultima dealer says we have come a long way, all is good...
And so on, and so on
Opinions are widely varied, It just leaves me scatching my head...
I want strength & reliability as the bike will be riden daily, and in all conditions.
I would like to hear your opinions and reccomendations, to help me out in making my final decision.
Sorry guys, but i just had to ask
Cheers from the GREENHORN
S&S Panhead...
Ultima, Best Value and HP and Torque for the Money, Ultima did have a Bad Rep a few years ago when they where being assembled in Mexico, About 2 years ago Midwest bought everything back to their US Head Quarters . Everything is now done in house They use Jims , Crane, Mahle Pistons, Cometic Products in their Engines . The Ignitions they use are Branded Utilma but they are Daytona Twin Tech and they have a 42 mm Mikuni Carby. The 113 makes 120 hp and 120 Ft of Torque and has a 2 Year Warranty. The 127 has 140 hp and 140 Ft of Torque and has a 12 month Warrany. Ok I sell them but I can Honestly say that over the Last 3 year that our Company has been selling them We have sold just on 60 Engines and Ive only had 2 with problems, Midwest where fantastic with both of them. They arranged each one to be Air Freighted back to the US, Repaired and Returned, all that their expense . There is not many company's that will do that
Go S&S or Harley Davidson engine's .
New old stock EVO, still a few available for about the $5000 mark, keep it stock if your riding it everyday, and give it a rebuild at 150,000k`s. If it don`t say Harley on it then its not a Harley.
