CRIMINAL bikie gangs would be outlawed by a Baillieu government.

New laws would empower the Supreme Court to outlaw bikie and other gangs engaged in criminal activity under the Coalition promise.

The laws would make membership of a bikie gang a criminal offence.

Displaying gang colours or insignia would become illegal and gangs would be stripped of assets and their fortified clubs would be demolished.

Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu will unveil his bikie busting plan today, just two days before 200 bikies ride into Melbourne to celebrate the Comancheros' first year in the city.

The bikies will converge on the gang's South Melbourne headquarters, a leased warehouse in Thistlethwaite St, which has undergone a security upgrade for the party.

Mr Baillieu said the Brumby Government had turned Victoria into a bikie haven by refusing to outlaw them.

"Criminal bikie gangs are already setting up shop in Victoria after relocating from other states, which have introduced or intend to introduce laws banning these gangs," he told the Herald Sun.

"Victorian families need protection from bikie gangs engaged in serious criminal activity such as drug production and trafficking, violence, blackmail, extortion, arson and intimidation, and represent a major threat to public safety and order." Police would be allowed to act without having to prove explicit threats were used.

Gang assets that have been used for criminal activity - including bikes - would be seized and courts could order the removal of fortifications from gang-linked premises.

Premier John Brumby said Victoria already had the nation's toughest laws for tackling organised crime.

"Whether it's an Asian triad gang or it's a bikie gang, that legislation ... gives police and the special examiner extraordinary powers," he said last year.

I for one SUPPORT this promise as I do the return of SANTA, no TAXES, equal rights for Ex- Husbands (actually I would vote for that LOL) one day per YEAR working week, free EVERYTHING and every other bullshit promise I (or they) can think off.

Get a LIFE Ted, your career is DEAD

But.... if I may why in the hell would you want to stop being able to instantly recongise a potential crime (that's if they are); granted some of the MC do have a little sideline that may not be completely "legit" but to bring SA laws over here is an joke. Don't support any MC, they keep to themselves as I do and as such we all get along just fine, but even if they doing "bad things" we don't need laws that require all of us to have some sort of 7th sense so we know what they do BEFORE we talk to them.
