I got a 08 fatboy and have just put a set of Screaming Eagle splip on on to replace the standard mufflers. I am very disappointed with the sound the new mufflers make. Sound poxy. Is there anything that can be done to make them sound better. Any mods that can be done.

Sell them and buy a set of Rush mufflers (1.75" baffles) from Morgan & Wacker in Brisbane .... very very sweet sound !!

bummer. sounds like the dealer didn;t do you any favours . The screaming eagles are lame. I did the SS but found the sound too irritating for my ears , changed to Rush 1.75's and couldn't be happier. just hang around somewhere with lots of bikes and listen to the sound of various pipes before risking another mistake.

To learn what I did to my SE slip-ons see the Reference/Tech section of the forum. I put it there to save me re-typing it every month or so.

          my S  E slippons have a bolt on the bottom holding the baffle in place. if you can remove this i'm sure the baffles would be easily modified to improve your audiblity.

How long is a bit of string?

HD say "yes" you do every time you change anything between where the air enters the air cleaner to the end of the exhuast exit. Infact all bike, car and even truck makers have been saying it since they started using computers instead of screw drivers to tune em.

Me thinks minor mod that far away from the balance tube let alone the exhaust valves wont have any noticable effect to the tune if the tune was good to start with.
