hi guys , just wondering how you care for harleys black denim paint, so many different ideas, love to hear your replys.
I just used normal dish washing liquid to wash our old Nightster.
hose down and then use window cleaner.... should not use standard cleaners on the denim paint - only use cleaner with ammonia
Hey you blokes I would check the use of dish washing liquid & or products with Ammonia in them as I believe it can increase the chance of corrosion on metal surfaces. Somewhere in the dim distant past I recall being told this when I used to use it in my tintop windscreen washer reservoir.
The dish liquid & ammonia will probably be ok for the paint on the surface but all those little creases in the metal on the bike may just retain some of that stuff & start the corrosion cycle. And it is probably hard to stop the washing water getting on the Aluminum parts also, not sure that either of these chemicals are good for alloy either.
I am no expert in this field I am just passing on advice that I was given from I don't know where or when but it sounded good to me at the time so I have stuck with it, check it out for yourselves.
I use water, as hot as I can stand it, wash the bike down with it, every surface and wipe with a micro fibre cloth, job done.
The thing with deniem black paint is if it is rubbed to much it will shine and I don't want that, hot water gets the bugs and crap of a lot easier than cold water and detergent.
Wire brush and Detol! Oh hang on thats my cure fore Piles.
