G'day I am hoping for a good tax return this year and one of the things I am thinking about is putting a set of forward controls on my XL1200R.

Ok I rang my local Harley dealer and got a price for a set of Harley forwards to suit my Sportster lucky I was sitting down around the $575 mark they are not cheap so now I am toying with the Idea of aftermarket controls still yet to chase up some prices for them but my biggest worry is that the aftermarket are as good quality as the Harley items there is nothing worse than being told that they bolt straight up and they don't been down this track before with other aftermarket parts.

So anyone running aftermarket forwards on there bike and everything bolted up no problems on should I just bite the bullet and go the Harley forwards at least by rights they should fit right the first time.

I think that if $575 is too rich for ya then aftermarkets are goin to be out of reach.

Thanks everyone for your repiles I decided to go to Harley forward controls when it comes time to buy because just lately I bought some aftermarket gear and of course it didn't fit without some kind of modifcation or did not do the job very well and ended up being taken off the bike and now have some very expensive peices of bling sitting in my back shed colllecting dust I will try M&M Cycles for a set of forwards.
