Just throwing a question out there if anyone has had the same issue. I have a sealed battery ( gel one) HD OEM. For my 1994 dyna FXDL. I regularly use the CTEK battery conditioner on it ( charges as well ) . went for a ride north about 50 kms, and on the way back it smelt like rotten eggs ( sulphur steaming from the top ends ( littls slits ) . The battery was bloody hot . I took the battery out the let it cool down. It was this morning about 8.00am so it wasn't hot and i was only cruising about 70kmh most of the way sitting in 5th without any effort on the bike.
Anyone recommend what it could be? The battery's warranty is up June 2010. The strange thing is the bike has never run any better , never had any flat battery issues , started perfectly fine this morning. I haven't used the battery conditioner within the last week.
would having a bad connection on the positive lead create the regulator to overcharge and overheat the battery ?
problem found , tested the battery current whilst it wasn't on and it was 13.5V , started the bike and the current went to 19.8v - there's the problem , guess i need a new regulator.
it was the regulator , all good now.
