Hello Timmey, you might want to read this post from the begining,
as its a total ground up build & not a bike you would have seen on the streets ,
l dont ride it around much, just country runs now & then...

ok cool ...guy I use to work with had a shovel and was a cabinet maker too , thought it may of been you .

Hows the ride with rigid frame ...any bumps or the tires pick up what the rear springs would do .

The guy you use to work with had a panhead ,
    that was over 15years back,
it did look very simular to this bike ,
it had a 1960 flh donk, in a 1940ish? knuckle frame,,
same kind of colour , differant tank badges,
& a lot of other differant stuff..
rigid frame rides good, drum brakes not so..

    Kickinon,

Old School here, Cowboy, Sunshine Coast...  You have warmed my heart.  First Post...  Your Thread has made me join this Forum..   My first "74" was a 66 Shovel in a 57 rigid frame.  I guess that dates me a little...  Spindle front end, 10" over wide glide, and you could leave the keys in it because it had a Suicide foot clutch and Jockey Shifter....  Heh he....  Good on ya!

Things have changed a little, and I am spoiled now.  Now on my 7th Harley in 40 + years, 20 in America, now  25 in Oz...  Now have a CVO Street Glide, the Orange and Black 2011 original Harly Bar and Shield colors, with: LED with indicators across the windscreen bar, LED in chrome mirror covers, Led Tail, 110 C.I. Vance and Hines, Race Tuner, and because I am Old School, Passing light from CVO Ultra to give it the old school three headlight look..

Anyway, I was on a 1966 Shovel, the first year of Shovelhead, jammed into a raked 57 frame so a 10" over Wide Glide sat level... My my, how things have changed.  Guess I will transfer to the Tourer section....  Just wanted to tell you, GREAT engine that....

cowboy,, l dont know , its hard to put a sale price on it, sometimes l see a pile of junk sell for $10k
other times the same pile of junk sells for $14k..
l saw a 2008 heritage with low klm. at $22k see a worse one for $28K.
lve been offered $13K., a swap for a bobcat, a swap for a xy ford, even part trade for a $10k mountain bike,..
its value ?... l dont know... to build one l do...an origonal 4 speed rachid lid about $1600, an origonal harley motor about $5k to $9k
an origonal frame $1.5k to $4.5 depending on condition.. origonal star hubs with new bearing kit laced with new spakes & rim (no tyre, tube)
about 800each...l dont know what it would sell for ,

Really nice Bike and Build there Kickinon....

From the horror stories I hear, I guess I better stay with Qld registered bikes...  Your build is AMAZINGLY like my 66/ 57 Rigid frame Shovel...  I had 2" in the down tubes with slugs, plug welded and capped over, bent up behind the seat post, so a 10" over wide glide sat level..

The only difference in mine of any note, was everything chromed, and a suicide clutch and jockey shifter.  That was all before they regulated us out of action.  I was really into the David Mann artwork and EasyRiders Magazine in those days..  I am probably too old to get beat up on a rigid these days, and not rich enough to buy your bike and park it in the living room as my Missus would give me the boot, and take with her half the loot... heh he

    Nice job of it....

    Kickin,

It really is.....  How much over is the Wide Glide?  And how did you alter the frame to sit level?  My 66 in a 57 frame I cut the down legs and heated it back at the seat post and bent it up 2".  Then heated the downlegs and brought them in line with a solid slug about 5" in each.  Tubes were drilled and slugs centered and plug welded.  Then caps made of the same size tube and welded over and ground smooth.

Kickinon, you have inspired me.  I think I am going back to see about getting into building some classics like you have done here.  I know we have to have front fenders and brakes, but what about the Engineering Certificate for the frame and front end...??  Anybody know how hard that would be in Queensland??  Is it easier to fully import it already done in a basket case or do you have the same problem...

Best job I have seen lately kickinon..  Awesome...   We have similar tastes...

l picked the frame up in Balina NSW. as is,on the way to bike week in 2008,,

if it hadnt been raked already l would have done a standard 57 panhead build,

since it was ready for longer forks l measured &  4" overs would be just right..

l already new what it was going to look like in my head, nothing radical just a rider without all the fancy shit on it...

it wont matter if you build or import you still have to get an RWC. & rego...(in Vic)

if the frames been altered you will need engineering to go over it as well....

lve started another project , its an origonal early panhead frame (bowleg) ive gathered just about all the parts (mostly second hand)

l usualy  buy old origonal parts  that needs work, worn out ,damaged, dented, & when l feel like hanging out in the shed go & fix it up,

l havnt got a motor or gearbox, handlebars, rear fender, some other small parts but they'l turn up...

l put a ribbed avon road runner on the  bike in the photos since,, & changed  the clutch to a more agressive look, ride it a bit ,tinker on it a bit..

ive got a pair of fishtail mufflers to fit soon, the straight outs on it are to high pitched in note,,

Bloody marvelous. Just waitin on K&M to send me some bits and where away. Once again top job, be proud to have it sittin in my shed.
