The engine cases were made here in melbourne, they are very usable, robust extra thick in places, perfect for a generator stroker motor,
a number of them were made for that reason before the chap passed away, not many but some were made, This set is on loan from a mate who new him well
    & wont part with them,
ive asked him a few times & will no dought ask again, id love to keep them,
The cam chest cover is 1 of 3 l have, a mate in the states cast them up some years back & sent me a few, they can be used on any (48-69) big twin if you
drill the oil galeries & bush them, ive run 1 for 4 years ,1 is hanging on the wall, the other is shown on the cases here .
Theres a joe hunt fitted, showing in the pictures
but ill be using a dizzy,

Had to stamp a frame number on it for rego, thats done,, it also needed a nuetral light , that turned out to be a big frigin headache!!
it has the switch in the rachit lid when l bought it, l went through the trans ,that was one of the firsrt things l did,
so l wired it up, nuetral light comes on in second gear!! shit!! took the switch out shon the torch in the hole, shit!! the lobe isnt lining up with nuetral!! thought about it for a while,
no way out have to pull the box to get the lid off!! shit!! really didnt feel like it,, got it all apart couldnt for the life of me work out why? why? l thought the previous owner must have put it back wrong
,not alined the teeth correctly on the drum & timing shifter gear, what else could it be? right?(sorry for calling you all those filthy names) wrong!! l tried every combination, when the lobe was corrct the trans wouldnt shift all 4 gears,
when all 4 gears shifted good no nuet.light lining up, only in second, l had that thing apart 9 times in the 6 hours it took, thinkin l must be missin something, in the end l gave up & dremilled 2mm out of the (nuetral slot of the shifter drum so'swhen it rotates, locks in that bit further around in the correct possy & nuet comes on when it should, Also could have drilled a 1/8 hole on the correct spot & inserted a node, to hit on the nuet, switch ,that would work o.k. as well, there is no excess wear on any of the parts for it not to work correctly,, So l figure the timing shifter gear & the shifter cam & (probably the whole ratchit lid) have been changed over at some time using after market parts and they dont marry up correct,,, ill book it in for a rwc. & rego next week, oil lights not working looks like the sender on the oil pumps faulty, ill do that tomorrow night,

Nothing's easy kickinon, It's great to hear when somebody actually works out the problem and
fixes it without paying a shop to do it. Can't do that with EFI Computer controlled machines. Sounds
    like it's getting along fine.
    Cheers,
    Cris

Not much left to do now, started it up last saturday, didnt ride it though, need a 1.3/8 in. socket to tighten the front motor nut,
a new oil pressure sending unit, a 3" belt guard,a rear chain guard, 2 chrome acorn nuts to mount the headlight bracket,
adjust the rod on the rear brake pedal ,2 newer looking hand grips, & check out why the generator light stays on, Thats it!! all small stuff. Bike feels good to sit on, crisp responce on a twist of the throttle, looks good , im happy with the way its turned out ,
ill try again to get a finished photo up here soon ,probably have all the small things done by then, cant seem to download pictures from the camera for some reason ...

    Dave,

When l thought l had the bike  in road worthy condition & was ready for rwc®., l  phoned Vic Roads told them what l had built/done , they put me through to the special rego people for a chat who told me what paper work/receipts id need,&gave me a list of VicRoads rego branches that do bikes, as not all Vic Roads do bikes, l trailered it to the closest  Branch (that do bikes)for them to have a look at it, the chap came out for a look, ( l was only after imfo at this point on how to go about registering it) had no appointment & no rwc. just after imfo..... a surragate frame number was needed & issued, as its a 1957 panhead frame  (no numberes on frames till 1970-71ish? ... anyway all looked good for the rwc. ,

l stamped the frame number, phoned around for somewhere close to me for the  rwc. as once again not all joints do bikes,

that went well, it passed on first inspection.. so l phoned vicroads made the appointment for rego.& inspection.

the main things that l needed to satisfy were proof of ownership, ,,l took all the receipts l had from the build,

but the main ones they were interested in were motor(engine number) & frame.. l also got a stat dec. declaring all true & correct, the rest was straight forward,  engineering cert. wasnt required as its a standeard bike, kind of, it also helped being of vintage years...So its all regoed!!!! and on the road!!!!!! Bayyybeee!!!!!!! WoooHoooo!!!!!!

she's on the lift at the moment, waiting on a set of softer 40lb. clutch springs, put a set of heavy duties in it but its to heavy on the hand, their 60lb. also fitting a 3inch belt cover, & removed the velocity stack cause its in the way when braking, made a new aircleaner assembly.. & need a softer brake spring for the rear pedal, once its off the lift & out side ill post a couple of photo's..
oh one other thing l bought a gell battery, its very small to fit in the horse shoe tank, its sealed,no overflow, runs on its side, ,upside down , any way you want, never seen one before, their for dirt bikes, scramblers, etc. but if your cramped for battery space what a great jigga...
