Gidday, a mate of mine has a 08 Fatboy 96 cube FLSTX, he has had bad tyre wear problems from new, taken it back to the dealer on a number of occasions and told all sorts of crap, under inflation/out of balance/ ect ect. he is on his 2nd set of tyres as the 1st wore prematurally,it is now out of warranty and the dealers are saying it is just a Fatboy problem.and refuse to address the problem any further.
l read a while ago, some one had a similar problem, and that there was a particular way to fit the front wheel, that, it is off centre, or something along those lines, can somebody help us with the correct procedure to mount the front wheel ?, it is wearing badly on the right side, it appears to be located in the centre of the forks.
thanks for the info boys, checked his tyre pressure, 35psi cold,l'll put up a photo when l get one, this is bad wear, dangerous even,l wouldnt like to be layin into a right hander thats for sure,l'll give it all atry, and see what turns up,thanks again.
Maintenance procedures are written for a reason and if your foolish enough to deviate from them you deserve everything you get, I would not take my bike car or anything to be repaired by someone who does not use and reference factory maint manuals, Scotty refers back to HD maint procedures regularly when answering questions and sometimes gets flamed by some who think they know better. Shovelheads earned their bad rap mostly from know it alls not refering to HD maint manuals and by carrying out repairs how they thought they should be done. If you disagree with a maint procedure write to HD and explain the basis of your disagreement, but don`t expect a reply stating " thank fuck you picked that mistake up you truely are an amazing mechanic and we bow to your awesomeness"
