Are there any on this forum that love long rides. I recently rode from Brisbane down to Mildura straight through, only stopping for fuel and the odd ciggie. 1700 klms in 16.5 hours for a get together and back two days later. Trip home took 17.5 hours. Good roads, minimal traffic and just you and bike humming along. Mind you, the bike is set up for this type of riding and she loves it. Just love the feeling when you have just done your first fuel top up, quick check over the bike and you are in "ride mode". Wish I could get away more often.
Longest trip was Adelaide to Brisbane 2,400Km's in 27 hours back in 1994 on a brand new Goldwing.
Now I often ride Adelaide to Sydney 1,450Km's in 17-18 hours.
Starting to get hard work now I am nearing my 1/2 century.
I only normaly do 1 big run a year. It's at christmas, I do Sydney to Mackay (about 4000kms round trip) normaly take my time going up but quick run back. Last year did Mackay to Caloundra then Caloundra to Sydney the next day. Great ride but most of it was in the pissing rain.
Longest frist ride - Brisbane to Melbourne "loved it"
I've always been a bit of a touring time "fella" having owned a FJR1300A it was set up for all that. Avg 20,000 klms per year touring
