January 19, 1989, three days from home after a two month, 25,000km figure-of-eight trip around Oz, including Tassie, to celebrate the Bi-Centennial. Would love to do it again next year as it'd be 25 years since...
Had a great ride today, 278 kliks of awesome twisties and great scenery. Headed out via the coast road to Inverloch then across the hills to Meeniyan, Dumbalk, Loves lane to Mirboo North then on to Boolarra. Whilst at Boolarra we rode to a spot I had seen on Google earth (bunch of dams in a valley) it turned out to be one of the biggest fish farms in Oz supplying the pet shops with Aquarium fish (not open to the public, no tours allowed etc) well the owner came out and said gidday and proceeded to tell us all about it. Turns out its not where carp where introduced to Oz at all (I did actually know a bit of the history of these dams) but the info the owner gave us was fantastic we spent an hour there and he showed us around and explained the process of growing out these fish. He also explained how the government is about to erase the Quarantine time on the same imported fish from asian countries. This will of course hurt his local industry and business but the damage possibilities for our local fish habitats and ecologies could be catastrophic. Anyway we left there for lunch and a game of pool at the Grand Ridge Brewery (recommended) then off to Leongatha via the Grand ridge rd, Hallston, Ruby, Kardella, Korumburra (fuelled up) Poowong pub for another game of pool and an ale (and a nice WLA in the carpark) onto Loch, Blackwood Forest, more amazing swervery, hills, twists and turns, till we arrived at the Archies creek pub, no pool table here so a quick check on our fluid intake and then off to Kilcunda for a music jam session on the verandah looking out over the water, getting sunburnt and finally deciding that tea was in order.

This bike was out front of the Poowong pub. Dont know if there are many Sportsters running around with an FLH front end and an awesome paint job like this. Now before we get into the girls bike crap, it was ridden by a young lady that could show a few fellas how to ride.
Sounds like you had a great day out Burnzi, unfortunately I missed out on getting a ride in today, perfect weather too. Made up for it yesterday when I rode to my cricket match and back with my kit bag slung over my shoulders. You'd be surprised at the ammount of looks I got though, but I don't give a shit anyhow.
No bikes in this pic, but the road in is fkn bullshit and in next to a creek. Nice scenery, great old pub
