sounds great, minees asingle seater , should suit his needs
Piglet, if you like and the weather's fine come anyway and bring the missus. Plus anyone else who's interested - pillions welcome. We could do a run up to Akuna Bay and West Head through the national park (costs $11per bike to get into the park unless you get lucky and the booth is unattended - don't count on it), then up to Palm Beach for lunch. Lots of cyclists on the run to West Head because they get in for free (grrr...) but a really nice ride. And we can do it again another time when Steamer is free. If it's wet though I'd put it off for another day.
Here's a map:

If it looks like being wet I suggest we postpone. Not worried about the rain generally but ini this case it will spoil a pretty nice ride.
Count Me In - When the weather is a tad better
I think we are agreed that we'll put it off for a better day, but here is a suggestion for the trip:
1. Meet about 10am at the BP 487 Sydney Rd, Balgowlah NSW 2093, just over the spit bridge on the way to Manly if you are coming from the south MAP:
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?rlz=1C1GGLS_enAU327AU327&sourceid=chrome&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=bp+balgowlah&fb=1&gl=au&hq=bp&hnear=balgowlah&cid=0,0,12087317886398501641&ei=ZgmOS_r7IYGUkAXHvo32DA&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQnwIwAA
2. Follow me down the back way to Manly via Dobroyd Point STOP for the views and North Head STOP for the views (slow suburban streets - since I know the way, the only chance I'll have to be in front)
3. Slow cruise down the beachfront at Manly to impress the locals - probably won't find parking so no point stopping
4. Pittwater Road 70kph zone to Mona Vale then Church Point ($11 entry fee per bike into national park) , and through the twisties to Akuna Bay Marina STOP toilet and refreshments (slow service so not for lunch)
5. West Head - really nice run on a perfect national parks road 80kph zone - lots of cyclists but they'll hear us coming STOP a great view over Palm Beach
6. Back via Church Point again to Pittwater Road then up to Palm Beach - a few good twisties on the way, especially if traffic is ok. STOP for lunch in the village opposite wharf.
7. Quick hoon a bit further on just to check out the main beach, then a U Turn and back down Pittwater Road. People heading North like Steamer can leave at Mona Vale Road, southerners continue via the city.
Comments or suggestions?
What's with all the bail outs? I hope this is not something to do with Saturday being Mardi Gras and coming to a place called "manly". And someone else mentioned lattes. Don't forget Rex Mossop comes from Manly and he's as tough as they come. As he so famously put it when complaining on TV about nude sunbathers at Reef Beach "I'm sick to death of having male genitalia shoved down my throat". (This is - seriously- the origin of the word Mossopism, which describes a situation where you think you are saying one thing but the listener hears something different).
happy to get alomg to this but the weather is looking a tad damp... so HTFU ! will keep an eye on the meeting time & place just after the F3 exit........

Taffy
Seet ? How are you looking?
I've mentioned it to a couple of locals but we are pretty soft on the Beaches so the weather will probably put them off.
Any others?
To get rid of the uncertainty lets give it a miss and organise again another weekend. I'l let the locals know (I don't think they will show anyway). Is that ok?
OK Piglet. I'll come clean. Once you said you couldn't make there didn't seem much point. That's right isn't it Steamer? (Wink, wink)
God's surname must be Murphy. 10.20 and the sun is shining. How peed off am I ... I'm at work! What a low trick. The one thing I'm certain of is that by the time I knock off it will be raining.
Everyone else can stop laughing anytime they like.
To really rub it in I did the ride like a Nigel No Friends and it was clear and sunny the whole time. AND...no cyclists to speak of - I guess they were put off by the weather forecast. A perfect run. Sorry you missed it!
Thats alright Nigel, thats one reason we ride bikes isnt it. The quiet, the solitude.
I was at my girls soccer today (they won 7-2) and talking to some of the mothers there (since Im the Nigel bloke at these things surrounded by the ladies, all the mothers take the girls, and me, but for me Im told its spelt mutha). I found 2 of them ride bikes too. And they too said, they love the Nigelness of riding a bike. One of them was so excited to talk about the iron.
Such a perfect day for riding a bike today, so I washed my bike and went for a ride this morning, Brilliant day. And if tomorrow I wake and its another beautiful day, Im gonna ride the road that crosses from Picton to Wollongong, just for a spurt.
Glad you got out and had a blat.
What a ripper morning for a ride. Went Narellan Razorback Picton and then scoot back up the expressway as it was starting to look shocking when I was going through Picton.
Thought Seet might be riding in the area and the rain was coming
150 clicks, nice ride, and now Im home the sun is shining real nice and the cicadas are going wild.
I'll have to get your number piglet as I will probably go that way next weekend.
