I have a 2000 Deuce and so far I have got 16000km out of the tyres. I bought the bike 2nd hand and had new tyres put on when I bought it. A Dunlop K591 on the rear and a Venom on the front and I think that I will get about another 2000km out of them. Even though there is a lot of opinion about tyre pressures I have found that running 36psi in the front and rear seems to work ok.Riding in Cairns we have some really good different road types so it tests the tyres out on all types of road conditions, in the heat as well.

I got 7000 K out of a Maxis rear tyre on my stock Sporty 1200 & that was down to the canvas !  My current rear tyre is a Bridgestone Battlax & it don't look like it's gunna do much better, even though it has a harder compound rubber in the middle.

Still, they both only cost $165 fitted, so, what the hell.

My last tooth crown cost me $1,500.

Since I changed tyres in Feb (Dunlops front & rear) I have done about 5000ks and the rear is 2 thirds worn and the front is about 50% with even wear. I have been riding more to the centre of the lane, this seems to have had a positive effect on front wear. The rear seems softer, maybe the progressive shocks I put on last month will help with wear as well.

My next tyres will be Metzler

Anyone tried those dual compound tyres yet?

Hard in the centre and softer on the edges. Sounds good in theory.

I usually get around 10 to 12 thousand km's from a rear 200 Dunlop, but I was told by a reputable tyre fitter the other day that the pressures that Harley suggest you run are to convince people that their bikes are comfortable to ride and not about getting maximum mileage ?? He suggested running the rear at 46lbs and said I would get much longer tyre life although the ride would be harder and continued to explain that it is not the tyres job to give you a soft ride, that is the suspensions job, which in his opinion is where harleys lack. Don't shoot the messenger.

I got about 15000kms out of my Dunlop however i reckon you have more chance having a puncture when the tyre is shot (take it from someone who knows......me).

I wont let my tyres get to that stage next time. You only have 2 tyres and you have to change em eventually so dont let em get too smooth.

I have 7200kms on the clock of my 07 standard and the factory dunlops both stuffed on the right side due to the high amount of roundabouts i encounter before getting out onto the highway to get to work.any suggestions on a good brand to use?

Just changed my front tyre, was smooth as a baby's bottom - 21.000 Km.

Rear tyre lasted for circa 14.000 Km. Both Dunlops
