    Saturday 26/ 4/08

Townsville round of Qld Supamotard C/ship

at Suncity Raceway, the kart track on Shaw Rd.

Dirt bikes with road wheels and slicks sliding into corners at 100+ kph, some pretty sick stuff to see when it happens 4 bikes wide.

    Racing from 11am

Are you racing deadly? I used to punt around on a KH100 in the bucket racing. Good cheap fun.

Not a bad few hours out.

Saw a few motards sliding down the road as well as some seriously fast riders. I think I saw your interm gold wing deadly, is it red?

Thats the plan Uncle, my opinion is that Townsville is going about it the wrong way though.

It is planed as a street race, which is fine if ya city already has a decent race circut. Unfortunatly we dont.

I'm looking forward to seeing the race up here but would prefer to see the money being spent on a proper pernament race track which could be used all year round by all of the various motor sport groups, driver training companies and emergency services driver training as well as the V8s or any other racing class including bikes.

not sure why, but everyone seems to be focusing on street circuits... there is Adelaide, then Canberra, now Hamilton and next Townsville. This year is the last for Barbagello in Perth and they want the State Govt to cough up $8M towards a street circuit. For what it is worth, Adelaide is the only decent circuit as it has wider streets. Just look at the carnage from Hamilton.

Yep that was my red Wing in the car ridden bike parking area.

Not my style of bike the Mortards (Retards), I'd need to stand on me tool box to start em, but some of that racing was just unreal.

Hey Greg, what years did you race and what was your race number, their has been bucket loads of bucket riders and bucket bikes over the years but not many KH's. We always laugh when a newbie shows up with THEIR new ride about how many owners and colors its had that they don't know about. I built and raced the mighty #66 H100 to a few club champs and even more 1 Hour class wins before moving on to 125GP.

General support from the whole townsville community seems fairly high for the V8 car race and I think that maybe the movers and shakers had planned to create that surport and then turn it into a purpose built venue by 2010. But that would take $5m just to build the track and we all know that up here in gods country nuthin gets built with out a corprate area, car park, 5 star food hall, kiddies pool with big screen TV and all the shit that has nothing to do with racing, so now we need $100m just for the design work. But you never know.......

My race number was 631 and my bike was painted in a dark grey hammertone finish (to cover my dodgey prep work). I am struggeling to remember what years I raced. 2002 - 3 perhaps. Still got the bucket in the shed, just got to loose a few kg to fit back in the leathers.
