G'day all,My search continues for my first Harley.I am comparing an 07 1200 custom, low k's with pipes for around 15k with a 12/08 883 custom,8000 k's,with no mods at all for around 10.5k.I am aware that I could put a 1200 kit into the 883 later for 2-2.5k. Both bikes are in lovely condition.I would appreciate your comments and advice on what could be the best way to go.The 1200 at 15k would stretch my budget so I am thinking to go for the 883 and upgrade later. What do you guys think?
Cheers,Scotty
Steamer,I hear what you are saying but 18k is just a bit to much for me. I dont want to borrow any money to buy this bike so thats out of my price range.

Hey mate, go the 1200.
I dont see any point getting an 883 and then converting later. More trouble than its worth I reckon. If its not going to break you to get the 1200, you will be more than happy you did it in the end.
Nothing wrong with an 883 though, they still move along, SEET sticks with the pack, even if he is twisting the throttle round for the second time
In the end, doesnt matter which way you go, as you are going to be happy with getting a Harley.
But if you are going to have a passenger come on rides a lot, then definitely the 1200, and its always nice to have that little extra grunt when you need it
G'day all, well,I brought the 883 today.I rode both and while the 1200 had more go I felt for me,being a novice, that the 883 was more than enough, certainly at the moment anyway.I couldn't be happier with the bike,it is in absolutley perfect condition and has obviously been loved by the vendor.Has a few cosmetic bits added to it such as derby cover by hd and a couple of badges but otherwise pretty stock so I will be able to make it mine. The bonus is that he has had holes drilled in the baffles professionally,so she sounds like a harley should but the pipes still look stock.Apparently the blue boys have already had a look and given it a tick.Anyway I am stoked and I should be able to pick it up in a day or so.Will post some pics soon.Thank you to those who offered thoughts and opinions,it is much appreciated.
See you on the road,Scotty
Thanks SEET04,I'm grinning already and i havent got it home yet.I live in Perth about 20 min north of the city.
