Whats the method for removing powder coat from metal parts??

without damage to the metal / alloy .....etc.......

in the past ive used 2 methods on smaller items  for  example;;; dash cover,,, lower fork legs....

1 / paint stripper...till it cracks and begins to peel, then scrape with a soft tool ...

2/ soak the part in my dirty thinners drum ....till it softens then scape of with a soft ended tool.. wooden putty stick etc...

both work okish..takes a while though...

Any body got a better suggestion?????

If you want to recoat it , leave it on, new powder will go straight over the top.

Hmmm Methylene chloride strippers  what a beautiful thing.

Also available at your friendly local cyclinder head repair shop thats how they get all that lovely carbon and crappy paint off so easy.

PS Its the evil looking tank down the back with water on the top, they need it to keep the fumes in cause man if you cop a wiff of it cleans the nasal passages really well.

No its not yet you need a EPA registration and approved clean out maintenance procedure and must supply evidence of proper dispoal when its clean out time.

Robo washers are used to final clean, and rinse down after the stripper tank.

Mates got one and is still in use today.

bought a $5 can of paint stripper,, it did the 2 lower fork legs, and brake drum cover/housing..

gave them a coat waited 5 minues, then one of my sharp wood chizels ,peeled like an apple skin,
1 layer at a time ,took 4 coatings to remove all the p/coat.. but excellent results..
l have a buffing wheel/kit.. polished the alloy parts up just great,, finished off with a fine cut n polish (car stuff)
took me 3-4 hours but worth the effort, it was that or pay someone to do it for me..my guess would be about $75-$100
but like all my bike stuff l prefere to do the jhob myself if l can...
