    Hello All

Have seen past forums asking about pros and cons of open primaries. I'm real keen to fit one of the Ultima open primaries to my dyna street bob, the drag style one a because they look great and  they happen to be  pretty reasonable on price. The biggest negative I get is that they can catch your jeans. Id like to hear from anyone that actually has personally had caught their jeans in an open primary. Does it happen if your not wearing tassles, cause I dont . Are they a cop magnet?

i road a kick start only shovel with 3" open belt primary drive from 1982 till about 2004 1 million k's, used stock clutch with primo belt drive, latter went to a bandit super clutch, the stock clutch rattled when you pulled in the clutch, stopped when you let out the clutch, the bandit stopped when you pulled in clutch and rattled when you let it out. no problem with my jeans, but a mate road it once and it stuffed up his new jeans. think it was a one man bike. a mate still owns it and still rides it still has the 3"  open belt & bandit super clutch. just the new ones have electric start.

i would not change my 01 dyna to open belt primary as can,t see the point.

the top fuel nitro harleys use them but you have to eather pull the clutch out and put a cooling fan on the clutch hub at end of the track, or change belts a lot, as the heat they build up handling 800HP can melt the belt.

    cheers
