I once did a top end on an EVO for a customer who was riding from NSW to Perth. It had 140k of hard riding miles on it. He just wanted a freshen up on the top because it was using about 1/2 litre of oil in 5000 ks. New Pistons, guides etc did the job nicely, he did over 200k before the bottom end was done.

i have heard of Twin cam engines going past 150,000km+ & still running strong , this is coming from a source within the Harley mechanical repair side of the industry .

What about those damn cam chain tensioners??? Shoud'nt they be checked/replaced at 40,000ks?? Apart from that, they should go minimum 100,000ks....
Enforcer, what have you done apart from oil and filters????

Do you know if your deluxe has had the illustrious (think that is how you spell it) 05 valve seal replaced.

Mine has just ticked over 18 000k's & I'm using oil (common problem with 05 valve seals).

    Cheers

What are you really asking? do you want the members to say : A bike with that many "K"'s on it Should (A) have a big bore kit and beefed up bottom end.
or (B) should be traded in on a BRAND NEW BIKE
Let us all know what to say, then you can show Mum the experts advise. We'll back you up.
